Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2018 in the subject Engineering - Power Engineering, , language: English, abstract: Electricity is an essential thing for a human life as it influences every part of people's lives and it is important to the effective functioning of a healthy economy and to ensure a healthy population. However, there are still millions of people deprived of electricity, most of them in the rural areas where electrification experiences challenges such as low profitability, high economic investments or difficulty of operation, among others. At the moment, solar energy has turned into a popular and meaningful alternative energy source to meet specific demands around the world due to the climate change and global warming caused by non-renewable energy resources. The aim of this project is to develop a simple and cost-effective Photovoltaic (PV) system for the rural regions where grid electricity is not available. Specifically, the study will focus on the development of PV system in Kitui County. The research will use both quantitative and qualitative approaches to collect the relevant data. This proposed project will help improve the access and transmission of electricity in Kitui County; thus, enhancing the lives of people in the region.
Book Synopsis Renewable Energy Resources And Rural Applications In The Developing World by : Norman L. Brown
Download or read book Renewable Energy Resources And Rural Applications In The Developing World written by Norman L. Brown and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-06-18 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The energy situation in developing countries is desperate.Because these countries are primarily dependent on fossil fuels--chiefly oil--for industrial growth, they have been hard hit by oil price increases. Further, in the rural areas, where most of the population lives, there are limited supplies of increasingly expensive diesel fuel or kerosene. Noncormzercial energy sources such as firewood, dung, and agriouZtural residues are generally used in rural areas, but under the pressure of growing populations the forests are disappearing. This is resulting in a critical shortage of firewood for cooking and heating, as well as in the destruction of the environment. In addition, when dung and agricultural residues are burned, valuable fertilizers are destroyed. Thus, the rural areas--the sources of food and fiber--face a particularly alarming situation.

Download or read book Recent Development in Energy Conversion Systems written by Sunday Olayinka Oyedepo and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-03-15 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this industrial and technological age, energy plays a principal role in sustainable development. This is connected to issues regarding availability, production processes, utilization, and environmental impact. Due to the increased rate of population growth, the energy demand in the entire world is getting to the level that it may not be sustained in the nearest future if drastic action is not taken to address the situation, especially from research and development perspectives. "None of the millennium development goals (MDGs) can be completed without considerable improvements in the quality and quantity of energy services in developing countries," according to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Based on this fact, UNDP is making efforts, especially in developing countries to ensure that people have access to sustainable sources of clean, reliable, and affordable energy since every aspect of human development is highly impacted by this vital resource.

Book Synopsis Energy from the Desert by : Keiichi Komoto
Download or read book Energy from the Desert written by Keiichi Komoto and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This 4th volume in the established Energy From The Desert series examines and evaluates the potential and feasibility of Very Large Scale Photovoltaic Power Generation (VLS-PV) systems, which have capacities ranging from several megawatts to gigawatts, and to develop practical project proposals toward implementing the VLS-PV systems in the future. Comprehensively analysing all major issues involved in such large scale applications, based on the latest scientific and technological developments and by means of close international co-operation with experts from different countries. From the perspective of the global energy situation, global warming, and other environmental issues, it is apparent that VLS-PV systems can: contribute substantially to global energy needs; become economically and technologically feasible soon; contribute significantly to the global environment protection; contribute significantly to socio-economic development. Energy policies around the world are gradually changing direction to focus less on nuclear energy with the expectation to turn to denuclearization entirely with the negative impacts of nuclear energy, while in parallel the importance of and expectations for renewable energy technologies are increasing drastically as possible energy infrastructure, as well as environmental friendly technology. This book recognises that very large scale solar electricity generation provides economic, social and environmental benefits, security of electricity supply and fair access to affordable and sustainable energy solutions and that VLS-PV systems must be one of the promising options for large-scale deployment of PV systems and renewable energy technologies"--
