Book excerpt: This book, titled Non-destructive Testing Techniques meets the requirement for a text book on Non-Destructive Testing and also a support text for courses on Materials Science and Technology/Materials Testing and Technology. These courses are offered in Institutions/University across the country and the book is quite useful for students of these courses. To help students to master their subject knowledge; Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with Answers have been provided at the end of the book. All the Chapters have been written in a simple language for better understanding of non-destructive te4sting techniques. The knowledge and practice of Non-Destructive Testing Techniques leads to having an additional technical skill and industries employ persons having this skill set. Besides serving the primary purpose of providing a textbook on the subject on Non-destructive Testing Techniques, it would also provide a much-needed reference to various engineers and research-scientists that use Non-destructive Testing Techniques for inspection purposes or for material behavior research studies. Persons working in the area of non-destructive testing in large fabrication industries, chemical and nuclear industries, aerospace industries, transportation including railways, etc. would also find the book very useful.
Book Synopsis Non-Destructive Testing by : B. HULL
Download or read book Non-Destructive Testing written by B. HULL and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-03-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is of great importance that both individual components and complete engineer ing assemblies and structures are free from damaging defects and other possible causes of premature failure. A whole series of inspection instruments and tech niques has been evolved over the years and new methods are still being developed to assist in the process of assessing the integrity and reliability of parts and assemblies. Non-destructive testing and evaluation methods are widely used in industry for checking the quality of production, and also as part of routine inspec tion and maintenance in service. Despite the obvious importance of the subject, and the fact that most of the inspection methods are based on well-established scientific principles, there is a dearth of publications suitable for use as texts in our universities and colleges. The whole area of non-destructive testing receives scant attention in many engineering degree and diploma courses in the UK and this may be a consequence of a shortage of student texts. The authors, in producing this basic text, hope that it will prove useful to students on engineering courses and, possibly, act as a stimulus for the more widespread introduction of the subject into curricula.

Book Synopsis Electrical and Magnetic Methods of Non-destructive Testing by : J. Blitz
Download or read book Electrical and Magnetic Methods of Non-destructive Testing written by J. Blitz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to help satisfy an urgent requirement for up-to date comprehensive texts at graduate and senior undergraduate levels on the subjects in non-destructive testing (NDT). The subject matter here is confined to electrical and magnetic methods, with emphasis on the widely used eddy current and magnetic flux leakage methods (including particle inspection), but proper attention is paid to other techniques, such as microwave and AC field applications, which are rapidly growing in importance. Theoretical analyses relating to the various methods are discussed and the depths of presentation are often governed by whether or not the information is readily available elsewhere. Thus, for example, a considerable amount of space is devoted to eddy current theory at what the author considers to be a reasonable standard and not, as usually experienced, in either a too elementary manner or at a level appreciated only by a postgraduate theoretical physicist. The inclusion of the introductory chapter is intended to acquaint the reader with some of the philosophy of NDT and to compare, briefly, the relative performances of the more important methods of testing.
