Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As stated in the author's previous book, the Making of a Man; My Cross to Bear, the author believes that you should take the time to read and study the contents in Conflict En Route to Destiny. Have you ever thought of life as never quite being what it should be? the author has discovered that in life, the things that we have experienced can either make or break us. The important thing is what you do with the hand that you are dealt in life. The most important lesson for us is to trust in God and not get so wrapped up in what someone has or hasn't done for you; even if they were your parents. It's the author's hope that upon reading this book, that victory will be found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just remember what the author said in his first book the Making of a Man; My Cross to Bear; if there is no cross, then, there will be no crown. By trusting in God, we will be able to rise from the ashes as we are rising from the ruins.

Book Synopsis Destiny and Human Initiative in the Mahābhārata by : Julian F. Woods
Download or read book Destiny and Human Initiative in the Mahābhārata written by Julian F. Woods and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2001-04-19 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Destiny and Human Initiative in the Mahabharata explores this epic's ongoing polemic regarding free will in the face of destiny. While the belief that human history is governed exclusively by external forces is evident in the Mahabharata, the epic also contains the commanding message of Kr's'n'a that the lives of individuals and societies may, and should indeed, be changed for the better through human initiative. Woods maintains that the resolution of this conundrum emerges from the epic's view of what it is to be a human being. We may harbor ideas about our self-determination and freedom, but the epic reveals that we are not at all free but trapped in a vicious cycle of birth and death that can be broken only when we realize that our precious ego-self with its sense of agency is a mental fiction. The Mahabharata admits to a modicum of freedom in everyday life which, from a higher perspective, is nothing but destiny in disguise.

Dr Rao attributes all this to destiny. Destiny in this view constitutes the circumstances in which one is situated; but it is the deftness with which one manoeuvres himself through the maze of circumstances that really matters in the final analysis. The book is offered as a possible source to inspire the aspiring individual not only to set noble goals but also find possible ways of reaching them. Blessed is the one who moves his way upward without hurting himself or others in the process. This has been the guiding principle of Dr Rao.
Download or read book Destiny written by Kōji Takazawa and published by University of Hawaii Press. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1970, nine members of a Japanese New Left group called the Red Army Faction hijacked a domestic airliner to North Korea with dreams of acquiring the military training to bring about a revolution in Japan. The North Korean government accepted the hijackers—who became known in the media as the Yodogō group, based on the name of the hijacked plane—and two years later they announced their conversion to juche, North Korea’s new political ideology. Little was heard from the exiles until 1988, when a member of Yodogō was unexpectedly arrested in Japan, and communications with the group opened up in the context of his trial. As a former Red Army Faction member, journalist Kōji Takazawa made several trips to North Korea, reestablished his ties to the group’s leader Takamaro Tamiya, and helped to publish the group’s writings in Japan. After Kim Il Sung revealed that Yodogō members had Japanese wives, Takazawa published a book of interviews with the women, but in the process became suspicious about the romantic stories they told. He also wondered about the members who were missing and learned more details in long, private conversations with Tamiya. After Tamiya’s sudden death in 1995, Takazawa launched his own investigation of what the group had actually been doing for two decades, even traveling to Europe to follow traces there. An example of superb investigative journalism, Destiny: The Secret Operations of the Yodogō Exiles offers Kōji Takazawa’s powerful story of how he exposed the Yodogō group’s involvement in the kidnapping and luring of several young Japanese to North Korea, as well as the truth behind their Japanese wives’ presence in the country. Takazawa’s careful research was validated in 2002, when the North Korean government publicly acknowledged it had kidnapped thirteen Japanese citizens during the 1970s and 1980s, including three people whom Takazawa had connected to the Yodogō hijackers. Embedded in his pursuit toward what truly happened to the Yodogō members is Takazawa’s personal reflection of the 1970s, a decade when radical student activism swept Japan, and what it meant to those whose lives were forever changed.
