This book was released on 1976-09-16 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete overview of the fundamentals of three-dimensional descriptive geometry From an overview of the history of descriptive geometry to the application of the principles of descriptive geometry to real-world scenarios, Fundamentals of Three-Dimensional Descriptive Geometry provides a comprehensive look at the topic. Used throughout the disciplines of science, engineering, and architecture, descriptive geometry is crucial for everything from understanding the various segments and inter-workings of structural systems to grasping the relationship of molecules in a chemical compound. For those requiring a full accounting of the fundamentals of three-dimensional descriptive geometry, this text is a definitive and comprehensive resource.
Book Synopsis Descriptive Geometry, The Spread of a Polytechnic Art by : Évelyne Barbin
Download or read book Descriptive Geometry, The Spread of a Polytechnic Art written by Évelyne Barbin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-01 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to explore the history of descriptive geometry in relation to its circulation in the 19th century, which had been favoured by the transfers of the model of the École Polytechnique to other countries. The book also covers the diffusion of its teaching from higher instruction to technical and secondary teaching. In relation to that, there is analysis of the role of the institution – similar but definitely not identical in the different countries – in the field under consideration. The book contains chapters focused on different countries, areas, and institutions, written by specialists of the history of the field. Insights on descriptive geometry are provided in the context of the mathematical aspect, the aspect of teaching in particular to non-mathematicians, and the institutions themselves.

Book Synopsis Distinguished Figures in Descriptive Geometry and Its Applications for Mechanism Science by : Michela Cigola
Download or read book Distinguished Figures in Descriptive Geometry and Its Applications for Mechanism Science written by Michela Cigola and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-27 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of chapters that focus specifically on single figures that worked on Descriptive Geometry and also in Mechanisms Sciences and contain biographical notes, a survey of their work and their achievements, together with a modern interpretation of their legacy. Since Vitruvius in ancient times, and with Brunelleschi in the Renaissance, the two disciplines began to share a common direction which, over the centuries, took shape through less well-known figures until the more recent times in which Gaspard Monge worked. Over the years, a gap has been created between Descriptive Geometry and Mechanism Science, which now appear to belong to different worlds. In reality, however, there is a very close relationship between the two disciplines, with a link based on extremely solid foundations. Without the theoretical foundations of Geometry it would not be possible to draw and design mechanical parts such as gears, while in Kinematics it would be less easy to design and predict the reciprocal movements of parts in a complex mechanical assembly.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Descriptive Geometry Descriptive geometry is the branch of geometry which allows the representation of three-dimensional objects in two dimensions by using a specific set of procedures. The resulting techniques are important for engineering, architecture, design and in art. The theoretical basis for descriptive geometry is provided by planar geometric projections. The earliest known publication on the technique was "Underweysung der Messung mit dem Zirckel und Richtscheyt", published in Linien, Nuremberg: 1525, by Albrecht Dürer. Italian architect Guarino Guarini was also a pioneer of projective and descriptive geometry, as is clear from his Placita Philosophica (1665), Euclides Adauctus (1671) and Architettura Civile, anticipating the work of Gaspard Monge (1746-1818), who is usually credited with the invention of descriptive geometry. Gaspard Monge is usually considered the "father of descriptive geometry" due to his developments in geometric problem solving. His first discoveries were in 1765 while he was working as a draftsman for military fortifications, although his findings were published later on. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Descriptive geometry Chapter 2: Analytic geometry Chapter 3: Affine transformation Chapter 4: Orthographic projection Chapter 5: 3D projection Chapter 6: Oblique projection Chapter 7: Vanishing point Chapter 8: Picture plane Chapter 9: Line (geometry) Chapter 10: Parallel projection (II) Answering the public top questions about descriptive geometry. Book excerpt: Instability is the eighth in an annual series of publications that feature the best young architects as selected by the Architectural League of New York in their annual Young Architects competition. This yearcandidates confronted the question of defining their architectural practices in the midst of shaken institutions, weakened states of normalcy, and defunct analytical models. Joining the ranks of notablepast winners, such as Steven Holl, Carlos Jimenez, Billie Tsien, Architecture Research Office, and Rick Joy, the winners of the Young Architects 8 competitionDavid Benjamin and Soo-in Yang, The Living KBSA, WilliamsonWilliamson, Ply Architecture, MAD, and Julio Salcedorespond to these investigations with projects that are unique, imaginative, resourceful, and inspiring.
Book Synopsis History of Mathematics: Highways and Byways by : Amy Dahan-Dalmedico

This book was released on 2020-08-03 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A translation of the original 1986 French edition by Amy Dahan-Dalmedico and Jeanne Peiffer (both from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris), this eminently readable book places the birth and development of mathematical activity in historical, cultural, and economic context. The book offers an outstanding account, for instance, of how Arabs preserved Greek mathematics and extended it over an 800-year period, from 400-1200. The large number of illustrations supports the text and contributes to a fine read. - Publisher.
