Book excerpt: Se realizó un estudio en el cual se describió la producción de leche durante los primeros 100 días de lactancia en un rebaño de 29 cabras saanen en confinamiento divididas en 2 grupos de acuerdo a su número de parto: 12 cabras de 1er parto y 17 cabras de 2do o más partos. Se evaluó la leche producida en el período en base a controles semanales, correspondiente a los primeros 100 días de lactancia, se calculó la producción individual promedio del rebaño completo, producción individual promedio para cada grupo, puntos máximos y mínimos de producción e Indice de Persistencia. Para determinar diferencias estadísticas entre ambos grupos se utilizó ANDEVA. La producción individual promedio de leche para las cabras de 1er parto fue de 209,18 litros, y de 236,49 litros para las de 2do o más partos. El peak alcanzado para el grupo de 1er parto fue de 2,79 litros (día 29 post-parto) y para el grupo de 2do o más partos fue de 2,80 litros (día 35 post-parto). El punto mínimo de producción alcanzado para el grupo de 1er parto fue de 2,09 litros (día 91 post-parto) y para el grupo de 2do o más partos fue de 2,39 litros (día 90 post-parto). El Indice de Persistencia para el grupo de 1er parto fue de 71,39 por ciento y para el grupo de 2do o más partos fue de 77,31 por ciento (p. mayor que 0,05). La producción de leche en las cabras de 2do o más partos fue mayor que la del grupo de 1er parto (p menor que 0,05).
