Book excerpt: El presente trabajo describe el desarrollo de un Sistema de Información como apoyo y mecanismo de control escolar dentro del Proceso de Enseñanza-Aprendizaje, en la carrera de ingeniería industrial en la Universidad Tecnológica de la Mixteca; esto permitirá de manera más oportuna la toma de decisiones por parte de los usuarios; y de esta forma servirá de herramienta de gestión administrativa en la facultad, facilitando el registro de datos, su actualización, y por lo tanto, generación de información. La creación de esta tecnología de información, será de gran importancia y utilidad para el manejo de información de manera ordenada, rápida y eficiente, lo cual se ha vuelto una necesidad indispensable en el sector educativo, para obtener beneficios de ahorro de tiempo, y recursos en general. Para el desarrollo del sistema de información (SI), se hizo uso de la metodología LGS [Galindo, 2007], la cual consiste en cinco etapas principales, a saber: Análisis, Diseño, Construcción, Implantación y Mantenimiento; además de la aplicación de diversas técnicas y herramientas para la realización de éste. El producto final, será un SIBC centralizado, mediante un acceso vía intranet.
