La primera de ellas es la transición hacia un mundo multipolar, que se centró en las implicaciones actuales y de futuro de esta reconfiguración de poder global, incluyendo cuestiones específicas sobre las dinámicas que generan grandes potencias en el sistema internacional, así como su lucha por la hegemonía en regiones estratégicas clave del mundo. En segundo lugar, se analizó la estrecha relación entre cambio climático y seguridad global bajo un enfoque holístico que analizó de forma transversal aspectos tan relevantes como los movimientos migratorios derivados de los drásticos cambios medioambientales, o la multilateralidad de las consecuencias para la seguridad internacional de las variaciones del sistema climático. Las Jornadas de Estudios de Seguridad del IUGM gozan de una gran acogida por parte del público interesado en el campo de la paz y la seguridad internacional. De este modo, se han convertido año tras año en una cita consolidada e ineludible para estudiantes, profesores, analistas y profesionales del sector, tanto en España como fuera de nuestras fronteras. La edición de 2020 se organizó en torno a tres paneles principales: «Hacia un mundo multipolar: el orden global en transición»; «El cambio climático y la seguridad internacional» y, el «Programa de Doctorado», en el que participan exclusivamente alumnos matriculados en el programa de Seguridad Internacional del Instituto. Este libro recopila algunas de las comunicaciones presentadas en las XII Jornadas que, tras un proceso de evaluación externa, fueron seleccionadas para su publicación. Todas las comunicaciones que se presentaron pueden encontrarse en la publicación Actas de las XII Jornadas de Estudios de Seguridad, editada por el IUGM en formato digital.

It has significant social impacts and magnifies existing inequalities such as the disparity between women and men in their vulnerability and ability to cope with this global phenomenon.
