Können Medien als Hauptauslöser zu einer Erhöhung der Aggressionsbereitschaft und Delinquenz beitragen? Oder liegen womöglich gar keine ausschlaggebenden Effekte auf den Konsumenten vor und die Ursachen an anderer Stelle? Gibt es einen Zusammenhang von Gewalt in modernen, neuen Medien und der weitläufigen Annahme, einer im Vergleich zu Vorgängergenerationen scheinbar immer kriminelleren und gewaltbereiteren Jugend? Der Schwerpunkt dieser Analyse liegt dabei auf der Wirkung der zuvor genannten beliebtesten Medien unter jungen Menschen: dem Fernseher und Internet. Bei Letzterem wird vor allem das Smartphone als bei Kindern und Jugendlichen präferierter Internetzugang fokussiert. Dazu werden Studien, Analysen und Metaanalysen relevanter Autoren und Wissenschaftler zusammengetragen, um letztendlich eine einheitliche und umfassende Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage zu garantieren. Weitere mediale Gewaltformen, mit denen man alltäglich in Kontakt kommen kann, wie z. B. Computerspiele oder Musik, finden im weiteren Verlauf keine Berücksichtigung und wären im Rahmen dieser Arbeit zu umfangreich. Ergänzend zu der ausgehenden Forschungsfrage werden nicht nur die Auswirkungen auf Kinder, sondern auch die Folgen für Jugendliche identifiziert. Die Übergänge in der Entwicklung sind fließend und individuell, weshalb eine klare, nach Jahren getrennte Abgrenzung der zu untersuchenden Altersgruppen nicht eindeutig getroffen werden kann. Im weiteren Verlauf werden unter der Bezeichnung junge Menschen, sowohl Kinder als auch Jugendliche verstanden. Medien unterschiedlichster Bandbreite sind aus unserer heutigen Gesellschaft nicht mehr wegzudenken und nehmen selbst im Alltag der Kleinsten schon einen essentiellen Platz ein. Zwar sind ältere Medien, wie Bücher und Hörspiele in den meisten Kinderzimmern nach wie vor präsent, jedoch rücken moderne Medien, wie Computer und Tablets mehr und mehr in den Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit von jungen Menschen und üben eine Anziehungskraft aus, denen sich sowohl Kinder als auch Jugendliche größtenteils nur sehr schwer entziehen können.

Other papers share a common theme: the critical interpretation of archaeological evidence. A more careful consideration of non-grave good pottery sherds from graves suggests that these often disregarded items potentially shed light on funerary rites which are usually considered to be invisible; the potential importance of plant remains, particularly of exotic and rare species, in ritual deposits is examined and a new perspective on the negative aspects of Roman conquest of Northern Gaul presented. New approaches towards our understanding of space and landscape in the Roman world comprise an examination of the suburbs of ancient Rome and preliminary results of an ongoing project exploring the relationship between wetland landscapes and domestic settlements, presenting a case study from Spain.
