This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thougtit that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 31 (thesis year 1986) a total of 11 ,480 theses titles trom 24 Canadian and 182 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base tor these titles reported will greatly enhance the value ot this important annual reterence work. While Volume 31 reports theses submitted in 1986, on occasion, certain univer sities do re port theses submitted in previousyears but not reported at the time.

This book was released on 2012 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Devonian Guilmette Formation in the Pequop Mountains is cut by bedding parallel faults such that a complete stratigraphic section is not exposed. Three newly discovered faults are recognized: Faults A, B, and C. These faults are cut by the later Independence thrust of Camilleri (1994; 2010) and Camilleri and Chamberlain (1997). Additionally, the 0́−Pequop Klippe0́+ model of Camilleri and Chamberlain (1997) in the Six-Mile Canyon area was found to be less structurally complex. Structural thickness of the Pequop Guilmette Formation is approximately 500 meters and is approximately half that of the Guilmette Formation exposed in complete stratigraphic section in the southeast neighboring Goshute Mountains. The Pequop Mountains are located to the north of the east-west-trending Tooele Arch, containing mainly subtidal facies consistent with placement within the Tristate Basin during the Devonian; as previously proposed by Poole et al. (1992) for Cambrian-Silurian strata. Detrital zircon age-populations in the Guilmette Formation in the Pequop Mountains contain grains recycled from Ordovician quartzites in the Stansbury uplift and are distinct from detrital zircons in the Guilmette Formation in southern Nevada, south of the Tooele Arch, and Mississippian detrital zircon age-populations from the Salmon River Assemblage, north of the Tristate Basin. These support the notion of an active Tooele Arch as a provenance divide in the Late Devonian time.

This book was released on 1981 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Two sections of the Upper Devonian Guilmette Formation in White Pine County, Nevada, were measured and sampled to determine its paleoenvironmental and depositional history. The Guilmette was deposited predominately during a transgressive phase that was interrupted by minor regressions. The formation was divided into five informal members on the basis of lithologic and paleontological occurrences. Each member was broken down into separate microfacies representing a variety of environments. The depositional environment for each member is: 1) Alternating dolomite-limestone member--deposited in an intertidal-shallow lagoon with minor fluctuations of transgression and regression. 2) Lower mound member--deposited in a slightly restricted deep lagoon with an abundance of stromatoporoids. Small biohermal mounds are associated with this member. 3) Fore-mound member--initially deposited in a restricted lagoon environment that prograded into an open marine shallow shelf. 4) Upper mound member--deposited during fluctuating sealevel that caused alternations between lagoon and open marine conditions. The upper most part represents a trend toward shallow open shelf contitions. 5) Inter-mound member--represents a regressive phase noted in the Pancake Range that is not present in the Cherry Creek Range. The absence of this member in the Cherry Creek section may be a result of tectonic uplift initiated by onset of the Antler Orogeny. Transgression occurred during the Upper Givetian and Frasnian in an easterly direction across Nevada and Utah"--Document.

Book excerpt: Scientific analyses of the geology, metallogeny, and mineralization of gold, silver and other high-value elements in the western USATechnical details on working mines, exploration results, new depositsPresentations produced with the United States Geological Survey, Society of Economic GeologistsTwo-volume book set printed in full color with full-text searchable CD-ROM Produced under the auspices of the Geological Society of Nevada and published every five years, this two-volume book of peer-reviewed papers focuses on the geological analysis of ore-rich deposits in the western United States, especially ones containing gold and other high-value elements. Hundreds of stratigraphic, lithographic, remote-sensing and core sample examples are presented, particularly of areas likely to host Carlin-type gold deposits. The two volumes contain a wealth of data on specifically named mines, as well as technical information on high-potential areas for exploration. The book is profusely illustrated with full-color maps, photographs and charts for geology and mining engineering. A searchable CD accompanies the book and includes the full text of papers from the printed book, as well as abstracts and information from poster sessions not found in the printed book. Chapters in the text are fully refereed versions of presentations originally delivered at a symposium supported by the Geological Society of Nevada, along with the United States Geological Survey, Society of Economic Geologists and the Nevada Bureau of Mines. Sample key words: metallogeny, gold, epithermal ore, magmatism, Carlin trend, square array void mapping (SAVM), porphyry copper, tungsten, orogeny, lithogeochemistry, 3-D resistivity and modeling, fault-surface mapping, airborne electromagnetics and more. *The CD-ROM displays figures and illustrations in articles in full color along with a title screen and main menu screen. Each user can link to all papers from the Table of Contents and Author Index and also link to papers and front matter by using the global bookmarks which allow navigation of the entire CD-ROM from every article. Search features on the CD-ROM can be by full text including all key words, article title, author name, and session title. The CD-ROM has Autorun feature for Windows 2000 or higher products and can also be used with Macintosh computers. The CD includes the program for Adobe Acrobat Reader with Search 11.0.
