Download or read book Dynamic Urban Transportation Network Models written by Bin Ran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intelligent Vehicle-Highway Systems are providing a welcome stimulus to research on dynamic urban transportation network models. This book presents a new generation of models for solving dynamic travel choice problems including traveler's destination choice, mode choice, departure/arrival time choice and route choice. These models are expected to function as off-line travel forecasting and evaluation tools, and eventually as on-line prediction and control models in advanced traveler information and traffic management systems. In addition to a rich set of new formulations and solution algorithms, the book provides a summary of the necessary mathematical background and concludes with a discussion of the requirements for model implementation.
Book Synopsis Strategic Decisions in Directed Networks by : Amnon Rapoport
Download or read book Strategic Decisions in Directed Networks written by Amnon Rapoport and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022-03-09 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects and integrates the results of an extensive research program conducted by the authors over the past two decades. It spans the disciplines of transportation science, operations management, and behavioral economics, and consists of 16 chapters previously published in peer-reviewed academic journals and grouped under three topical sections: queueing, route choice, and departure time. The book focuses on strategic interactions in directed networks and laboratory experiments carefully designed to test the descriptive validity of the underlying theoretical models. The research question that unifies the chapters is: do the conclusions of theoretical literature account for the decisions of network users in controlled laboratory experiments? With several major qualifications, this book answers this question affirmatively.

Book Synopsis Modern Optimization Modelling Techniques by : Roberto Cominetti
Download or read book Modern Optimization Modelling Techniques written by Roberto Cominetti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-28 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of optimization, understood in a broad sense, is the basis of modern applied mathematics, covering a large spectrum of topics from theoretical considerations (structure, stability) to applied operational research and engineering applications. The compiled material of this book puts on display this versatility, by exhibiting the three parallel and complementary components of optimization: theory, algorithms, and practical problems. The book contains an expanded version of three series of lectures delivered by the authors at the CRM in July 2009. The first part is a self-contained course on the general moment problem and its relations with semidefinite programming. The second part is dedicated to the problem of determination of Nash equilibria from an algorithmic viewpoint. The last part presents congestion models for traffic networks and develops modern optimization techniques for finding traffic equilibria based on stochastic optimization and game theory.
Book Synopsis Modeling Dynamic Transportation Networks by : Bin Ran
Download or read book Modeling Dynamic Transportation Networks written by Bin Ran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to summarize our recent progress in dynamic trans portation network modeling. It concentrates on ideal dynamic network models based on actual travel times and their corresponding solution algorithms. In contrast, our first book DynamIc Urban Transportation Network Models - The ory and Implications for Intelligent Vehicle-Hzghway Systems (Springer-Verlag, 1994) focused on instantaneous dynamic network models. Comparing the two books, the major differences can be summarized as follows: 1. This book uses the variational inequality problem as the basic formulation approach and considers the optimal control problem as a subproblem for solution purposes. The former book used optimal control theory as the basic formulation approach, which caused critical problems in some circumstances. 2. This book focuses on ideal dynamic network models based on actual travel times. The former book focused on instantaneous dynamic network models based on currently prevailing travel times. 3. This book formulates a stochastic dynamic route choice model which can utilize any possible route choice distribution function instead of only the logit function. 4. This book reformulates the bilevel problem of combined departure time/ route choice as a one-level variational inequality. 5. Finally, a set of problems is provided for classroom use. In addition, this book offers comprehensive insights into the complexity and challenge of applying these dynamic network models to Intelligent Trans portation Systems (ITS). Nevertheless, the models in this text are not yet fully evaluated and are subject to revision based on future research.

Download or read book Wisconsin State Highway 23, Fond Du Lac to Plymouth, Fond Du Lac and Sheboygan Counties, Wisconsin written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wisconsin Highway 23 is part of the National Highway System (NHS) and is a rural principal arterial that connects Fond du Lac and Sheboygan in east central Wisconsin. Both west and east ends of the project are located in growing urban areas of Fond du Lac and Plymouth. Nearly 20 miles in length, this highway corridor serves high traffic volumes near the urban areas and lower traffic volumes in rural areas. This combined Limited Scope Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision (LS SFEIS/ROD) evaluates the No- Build Alternative, several Build Alternatives, and a series of corridor preservation alternatives for future transportation improvements, and selects an alternative. The Preferred Build Alternative is the Selected Alternative and reconstructs WIS 23 to a 4-lane divided highway on the existing alignment and creates interchanges, connector roads, and a trail. Corridor roads as well as the UW 151/WIS 23 interchange.
