Book Synopsis The Georgia State Constitution by : Melvin B. Hill , Jr.
Download or read book The Georgia State Constitution written by Melvin B. Hill , Jr. and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-29 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Georgia State Constitution, the authors offer a detailed description of the creation and development of Georgia's constitution. They explain how political and cultural events, from colonial times, through the Civil War, to the present, have affected Georgia's constitutional law. Accompanying the full text of the constitution is a rich commentary of the constitutional provisions. The authors trace their origins and interpretation by the courts and other governmental bodies. This volume also provides a bibliographical essay which features the most important sources of Georgia's constitutional history and constitutional law. It concludes with a table of cases cited in the history and the constitutional commentary, as well as a subject index. The second edition provides updates to the constitution including all constitutional amendments through the 2016 general election and additional case-law reflecting current thinking on critical legal issues in Georgia. The Oxford Commentaries on the State Constitutions of the United States is an important series that reflects a renewed international interest in constitutional history and provides expert insight into each of the 50 state constitutions. Each volume in this innovative series contains a historical overview of the state's constitutional development, a section-by-section analysis of its current constitution, and a comprehensive guide to further research. Under the expert editorship of Professor G. Alan Tarr, Director of the Center on State Constitutional Studies at Rutgers University, this series provides essential reference tools for understanding state constitutional law. Books in the series can be purchased individually or as part of a complete set, giving readers unmatched access to these important political documents.

Book Synopsis Cases in Communication Law by : Paul Siegel
Download or read book Cases in Communication Law written by Paul Siegel and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-05-22 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of the seventy-three cases in the fourth edition of Paul Siegel’s Cases in Communication Law, twenty-eight are new to this edition. Among these are such Supreme Court decisions as Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation v. Hoeper, which gives those who follow the post-911 instruction, “if you see something, say something!” some special protection from libel suits; Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association, which explicitly gives maximal First Amendment protection to violent video games, even when sold to minors; U.S. v. Alvarez, which prohibits prosecution for falsely claiming one has been awarded a Medal of Honor; and Snyder v. Phelps, which gave notorious minister Fred Phelps the right to mount demonstrations with rather nasty messages at funerals. Siegel has used several criteria to select cases for inclusion in this and previous editions. He admits unabashedly that one of those criteria is the cultural significance, familiarity, and even celebrity of the controversies or the litigants. Just to cite a few examples, this edition includes cases involving such litigants as Michael Moore, Penn & Teller, Joan Rivers, and Madonna, as well as TV programs like Family Guy, CSI, Law and Order, and featured movies include Disturbia, American Gangster, American Beauty, and The Hangover, Part II.

Book Synopsis Employer's Tax Guide, Circular E by : Internal Revenue Service
Download or read book Employer's Tax Guide, Circular E written by Internal Revenue Service and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-01-30 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pub. 15 / Circular E explains your tax responsibilities as an employer. It explains the requirements for withholding, depositing, reporting, paying, and correcting employment taxes. It explains the forms you must give to your employees, those your employees must give to you, and those you must send to the IRS and the SSA. This guide also has tax tables you need to figure the taxes to withhold from each employee for 2017. References to "income tax" in this guide apply only to "federal" income tax. Contact your state or local tax department to determine if their rules are different. When you pay your employees, you don't pay them all the money they earned. As their employer, you have the added responsibility of withholding taxes from their paychecks. The federal income tax and employees' share of social security and Medicare taxes that you withhold from your employees' paychecks are part of their wages that you pay to the United States Treasury instead of to your employees. Your employees trust that you pay the with-held taxes to the United States Treasury by making federal tax deposits. This is the reason that these withheld taxes are called trust fund taxes. If federal income, social security, or Medicare taxes that must be withheld aren't withheld or aren't deposited or paid to the United States Treasury, the trust fund recovery penalty may apply. See section 11 for more information. Pub. 15-A includes specialized information supplementing the basic employment tax information pro-vided in this publication. Pub. 15-B, Employer's Tax Guide to Fringe Benefits, contains information about the employment tax treatment and valuation of various types of non-cash compensation. Pub. 535 discusses common business expenses and explains what is and is not deductible. The general rules for deducting business expenses are discussed in the opening chapter. The chapters that follow cover specific expenses and list other publications and forms you may need.
