Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deer Hunter's Devotional steps out into new territory for author Sean Jeffries. While his two previous works explored the world of hunting and fishing from a secular perspective, in this newest volume he combines his love of the outdoors with his Christianity. Exploring topics such as scouting for deer during the preseason, choosing your hunting equipment, and the excitement of opening day, each chapter in the book ties these lessons in with carefully selected scripture chosen to highlight the subject at hand. The author is not afraid to delve deep into the importance of sound doctrine, and each day's reading will leave you with wisdom to apply to your own Christian walk. The first book in the "Hunting for the Heart of God" series, Deer Hunter's Devotional is a timely piece of literature for today's sportsman. Containing over forty entries designed to challenge the reader and provoke him to deep thought about hunting and his own Christianity, the book kicks off the author's new series with a bang and sets the tone for the works that will follow in its trail. This is definitely not your mama's devotional!

Book excerpt: I have been a pastor for over 35 years and was introduced to deer hunting in the first congregation that I served in Northern Minnesota. In other words, I have been a deer hunter for as long as I have been a pastor. One of the things that I appreciate about going to deer camp is the fact that at deer camp it doesn't matter that I'm a pastor. At deer camp I am just one of the hunters, no better and no worse than anyone else. Deer hunting has always been enjoyable for me because it provides an annual escape from the routine and constant focus of pastoring a congregation. Still, I have also found a connection between what happens at deer camp and who I am as, not just a pastor, but as a person of faith. Because I am a pastor I have received a couple of "deer hunting devotional books" as gifts from people who knew that I have an interest in hunting. As I have read the devotions in those books I have been mostly disappointed by the lack of focus on the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I have thought to myself, "I could do better than that!" Having shared this observation with some of my deer hunting friends, they have challenged me to write this deer hunting devotional which conveys, I hope, not just a love for deer hunting but also a distinct Evangelical Lutheran focus on the good news of God's love for all people. The stories in this book are all true. I have done my best to respect the privacy of the people with whom I hunt so the only names that are shared are the names of my own family members and the first names of those friends who have died and who are dearly missed. I decided to write thirty devotions for the thirty days in November because most of my hunting has been in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where the firearm hunting season always begins on the 15th of November and ends on the 30th of November. My experience is that once I turn the page on the calendar and know that the month of November has begun, I have already entered into the anticipation phase of deer hunting from November 1st to November 15th, which is why the title for this book is "Thirty devotions for the thirty days in November."

Book excerpt: God can do a lot to a man in just a minute. "I cannot attempt to explain why The Man Minute fell into your world. . .but it has no doubt landed on the path of your journey. I cannot tell you what’s going to happen. . .other than to tell you that life won’t be the same. . . . "God doesn’t take part in the coincidental, and He doesn’t offer random. His paths are sure and battle-tested. His words are worth slowing down long enough to encounter."(from the Introduction) Jason Cruise—author, speaker, and producer—has taken the flat, paved, predictable road of men’s devotionals and made a hard right turn down a dirt road of insights that are raw, unfiltered, and unpredictable. Every “Man Minute” is designed to be read in sixty seconds, yet you'll carry the insights you glean into a lifelong journey of spiritual manhood. This book offers a high-caliber tandem of biblical insights and encouragement that will draw you closer to God, who has called you to a life that transcends complacent, run-of-the-mill manhood.
