Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHY "DEEP " GOLF Being human can often be a puzzling and frustrating experience. Neither the logic of science nor the certainties of religion can answer all the questions which often plague an active mind. Deep psychological and emotional shadows surround every golfer who has ever had ambitions to strike a perfect shot. And even after the ball is in the air its final destination can be a bitter blow or a glorious triumph as it bumps and bounces like a ball on the roulette wheel of sweetly undulating terrain. After long and regular exposure to these formative experiences the golfer may: give up the game in exasperation continue to look for better clubs, an easier course, a better teacher or a wiser book achieve a deep and contented wisdom that permeates all parts of this strange life This book is written because experience shows that the golfers who fall into the third category are very much in a minority. The huge amounts of money and effort spent globally on golf club design, golf tuition and golfing aids of every kind, bear testimony to the overwhelming majority who fall into the second category. More than this, it is clear that the lessons we can learn from a better understanding of why this should be of great benefit to the world in general. This is a broad and ambitious claim I would admit. Can the struggles of the modern golfer really be a mirror of the modern approach to life and living which is taking the Earth to the brink of destruction? The mysteries and lessons of "deep" golf have taken almost a lifetime to understand. They are the distillation of conversations (and games of golf!) with wise men and women with hugely varied knowledge and experience. Fairly large quantities of beer, good food and other assorted games (of all types) have been an essential part of the learning process. I have every confidence that the lessons of "deep" golf will bring benefits in the life of every reader. Let us all encourage world leaders (if indeed such a term has any meaning), corporate chief executives and greedy bankers to also take due note of the wisdom to be found in "deep" golf and adjust their behaviour accordingly. Only time will tell, but every reader can pass on the message in whatever way they choose. As word spreads "deep" golf can become an effective Trojan horse for the new culture Earth needs if we are to better withstand the challenges of the 21st century. William Sutherland

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rolf Zeiler, a German born writer has dedicated this book to all golfers because golf is a tough devilish game. To survive it, he felt that all of us need some big laughs to ease the painful moments that this game definitely gives us. Golf with the Devil is a book for the 60 million golf enthusiasts worldwide trying to master the game. It is a suitable gift purchase for all people wanting to buy a golf humor book for their golf-addicted friends. The book is a compilation of ten short stories evolving round a golfing mad Devil. Getting souls to hell is an easy task for the Devil these days. And like the human working population, he suffers from monotony. Just for fun, the writer add an interview, sections of legal Implications in negotiating with the Devil, golf courses named after the Devil and a few jokes. So, the Devil in these tales uses golf, his hobby, to win a soul because it presents a more exciting challenge. But it's not that easy, as readers would discover, some golfers are smart enough to outwit the Devil while others fall prey.

Book excerpt: From 50 yards and in, no golfer in history has demonstrated more talent, flair, creativity and precision, or generated more raw excitement, than Phil Mickelson. His ability with the sand wedge and putter are legendary not only among fans but his peers as well, and it is his skill with those clubs that is primarily responsible for his winning 34 tournaments on the PGA Tour, including three major championships. In his first-ever instruction book, Mickelson explains in detail how to master every phase of the short game. Mickelson maintains that any golfer of average ability can become a deadly short-game player by approaching the subject with a blend of science (proper mechanics and setup) and art (imagination and feel). Mickelson does a fine job explaining both; combining the wisdom of his great teachers with his own fertile imagination, cultivated from 34 years of experimentation, trial and error. No golfer can afford to miss out on Mickelson′s secrets and tips.

Book excerpt: Everyone knows the name Callaway. The Callaway Golf Company is world famous for its premium golf equipment. What most people do not know is that Ely Callaway might never have gotten his golf manufacturing company off the ground without the expertise offered by the world's premiere golf physicist-Leon Z. Seltzer. Goldwin Golf has described Seltzer as 'the engineer physicist with a passion for golf...a rare individual with equal measures of scientific stature and golf fanaticism. He is respected by his peers and renowned for his theories that have shaped some of the major companies in golf. He is a man with a deep love for the sport, as well as being a fine historian and was one of the better amateur golfers in the country.' John Wong of Hireko Golf says Seltzer's innovative articles 'have given me a much more complete understanding of the how's, why's and what if's of golf physics. He is truly the Grand Master of golf physics.' Golf: The Science and the Art is a wide-ranging must read for students of the game, as well as a technical primer for the professional seeking an understanding of the science of golf. Much more than a technical book, Seltzer also discusses the history of the game, how to master the golf swing and practical keys to lowering your score in the world's most beloved sport. If you're going to purchase one book on golf, look no further than Golf: The Science and the Art. For twenty years Leon Z. Seltzer-who coined the Callaway expression 'you can't argue with physics'-served as a technical consultant for Callaway Golf, Goldwin Golf, Orlimar and several other top manufacturers, sharing his expertise with the finest minds in golf. Now he is ready to share it with you in Golf: The Science and the Art.
