Book Synopsis Feeling and Value, Willing and Action by : Marta Ubiali
Download or read book Feeling and Value, Willing and Action written by Marta Ubiali and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-13 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores the role and status of phenomena such as feelings, values, willing, and action in the domain of perception and (social) cognition, as well as the way in which they are related. In its exploration, the book takes Husserl’s lifelong project Studien zur Struktur des Bewusstseins (1909-1930) as its point of departure, and investigates these phenomena with Husserl but also beyond Husserl. Divided into two parts, the volume brings together essays that address the topics from different phenomenological, philosophical, and psychological perspectives. They discuss Husserl’s position in dialogue with historical and recent philosophical and psychological debates and develop phenomenological accounts and descriptions with the help of Geiger, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Plessner, Sartre, Scheler, Schopenhauer, and Reinach.

Download or read book La era secular written by Charles Taylor and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2015-04-15 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis First Letters in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries by : Alain Kerhervé
Download or read book First Letters in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries written by Alain Kerhervé and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-07-09 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘First letters’ can be understood in various ways: as the first letters written by a person, such as the letters of children, or of drafts which were preserved, amended and copied; as the first letter of a particular type, such as an experienced letter-writer’s first love letter; and as the first letter to a new correspondent, among many others. The idea of a first letter also suggests a link with the letters that follow: what is the connection between the first letter and those which come after it? Written by academics specializing in letter-writing internationally, this volume examines the letters of various authors, philosophers, and artists, including Benjamin Constant, José-Maria de Heredia, Voltaire, Diderot, Coleridge, De Quincey, and others. It is structured in four sections: letters from youth; first letters in fictional works; the writer’s persona; and first letters within correspondence.

Book Synopsis Marguerite Bourgeoys et la Congrégation de Notre Dame, 1665-1670 by : Patricia Simpson
Download or read book Marguerite Bourgeoys et la Congrégation de Notre Dame, 1665-1670 written by Patricia Simpson and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2007-10-19 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marguerite Bourgeoys (1620-1700) was canonized in 1982. Patricia Simpson goes beyond myth and hagiography to explore Bourgeoys's dream of establishing a radically new religious community of women, recounting her thirty-year struggle to obtain official recognition for the Congrégation of Notre-Dame. Simpson shows that the order faced great resistance from the male Church hierarchy despite the fact that the pioneer society depended on the work of the Congrégation. The order was particularly important in assuming the guardianship of many filles du roi - young women sent to New France under royal auspices to be married to the men of the colony. Simpson also examines the many difficulties the Congrégation faced, which included natural disasters and the dangers involved in trying to reach women and children in settlements throughout New France, as far away as Acadia.
