One: escape from her underground prison. Two: hunt down the creature responsible for imprisoning her. Three: discover who or what is behind the cause of the sentient shadows that only she can see. Book Synopsis Divine Presence as Activity and the Incarnation by : Alexander S. Jensen
Download or read book Divine Presence as Activity and the Incarnation written by Alexander S. Jensen and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-07-22 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an original perspective on the doctrine of incarnation through a discussion of divine presence and action, arguing for the plausibility of Chalcedonian Christology. It draws on a range of theological and philosophical sources, from St. Athanasius of Alexandria’s approach regarding the presence of the logos asarkos in the world to the relational understanding of personhood put forward by John Zizioulas, Christos Yannaras and others. The suggestion is that divine presence needs to be understood in consistently Trinitarian terms and the book sets out the possibility of a theology of presence which understands God as present and immanent in the world, while, at the same time, remaining transcendent and ineffable. Alexander Jensen maintains that the classical understanding of divine presence, which sees God as being present according to God’s activity, is much more useful in Christology than today’s predominant modern notion of presence as occupying space, and combines this with an ontological understanding of personhood. The book gives an account of the person and work of Christ that takes seriously the insights of historical research and critical biblical interpretation. It takes seriously the full humanity of Jesus of Nazareth and asserts that in this man we encounter God. It will be of particular interest to systematic theologians, as well as those concerned with the history of Christian theology and philosophical theology.

Book Synopsis And the Life of the World to Come by : John F. Craghan
Download or read book And the Life of the World to Come written by John F. Craghan and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do worshippers understand the poetic line "and the life of the world to come" when they pray the creed? Are they thinking of a geographical destination? A celestial community they will ultimately join? A participation in the life of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Questions like these inspired John Craghan to mine the biblical texts for insight and answers about heaven. His exploration of the Christian understanding of the "afterlife" moves through the understandings of ancient Israel to the synoptic Gospels and ultimately to the nascent beliefs of the early Christians as reflected in the letters of Paul and the book of Revelation. Grounded firmly in Scripture and written in a lively accessible style, And the Life of the World to Come is an intellectual and spiritual journey for readers that are willing to explore their own beliefs and anxieties about the heavenly home promised by Jesus.

Download or read book ZOETROPE written by Briji K T and published by Ukiyoto Publishing. This book was released on with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ZOETRPHE : Poetry is said to be the first form of literature. It unfolds feelings with a brief expression of words. I am presenting this Zoetrope to the readers in the interest of sharing my ardent feelings and vision when I traverse my surroundings. The scenario may be common, but the vision differs, and the pen inscribe it as on a stone tablet which will reincarnate when a reader touches it. All these poems are soliloquies when I close all windows to the outside world and open the door to my own shore. Mind is free to tread anywhere in seconds on a flying horse or magic carpet. There I am the princess, me the child, adolescent crazy lover, mother, philosopher and ..so on.! In my journey often I am afflicted..., inhibited... may feign or derail by delusion or contemplate. I wish earnestly for incarnation or live a life of others till my “Companion “ take me with him. I intent not to explain each and every poem as I present it to the readers. According to me, the half sung melody and the untold story pulls the chariot of a writer forward.!
Book Synopsis The Texas Chain Saw Massacre by : James Rose
Download or read book The Texas Chain Saw Massacre written by James Rose and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No-one who has ever seen the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) is ever likely to forget the experience. An intense fever dream (or nightmare), it is remarkable for its sense of sustained threat and depiction of an insane but nonetheless (dys)functional family on the furthest reaches of society who have regressed to cannibalism in the face of economic hardship. As well as providing a summary of the making of the film, James Rose discusses the extraordinary censorship history of the film in the UK (essentially banned for two decades) and provides a detailed textual analysis of the film with particular reference to the concept of 'the Uncanny'. He also situates the film in the context of horror film criticism (the 'Final Girl' character) and discusses its influence and subsequent sequels and remakes.
