The Dasha Avatar is the Puranic story of the ten incarnations of Vishnu who descends to the terrestrial world to establish stability and order, time and again. The avatars occur in a sequence – the first was matsya or fish representing life in water, followed by kurma or turtle signifying life in water and on land, then varaha or boar alluding to terrestrial life and so on. The sequence of the avatars could be taken to symbolise various stages in the evolution of life culminating in the advent of the perfect being.

In every form of species exists the soul that stands as eternal witness of thoughts of mind that becomes actions. Author of this book, exhibits his findings of serious research about “Evolution according to Vedas, in relation to that of contemporary modern synthesis theory of evolution, that the origin of man is time immemorial. Meru is regarded as the tallest and most pious mountain, having abodes of all Gods and Semi-Gods of all faiths. Unfortunately, nobody can confidently pinpoint the place of Meru in spite of indicative addresses available in scriptures. Generally, Hindus believe it to be beyond Himalayas; Buddhists say it is in Tibet; Jains say it exists, but it cannot be seen. This is because of unsatisfactory solutions to its conflicting descriptions. For example, the Sun never sets on Meru but does set at the base of it.
