Es ging um die Entstehung des Weltalls aus dem Urknall - der gar nicht stattfand - und um die Entstehung des Lebens, und da besonders des Menschen aus dem Tierreich und nicht vom Affen. Das fuhrte mich als glaubigen Christen zu neuen Deutungen von Aussagen der Heiligen Schrift und von Dogmen. Ich musste selbst Auffassungen meines Glaubensbekenntnisses andern. So greift kein gottliches Wesen direkt in die Vorgange auf der Erde ein, es sei denn uber den Menschen. Trotz Auschwitz bleibt Gott dabei allmachtig. Das alles wirkt sich auf die Erfullung von Gebeten aus. Erstaunlich war fur mich die Aufdeckung der von Paulus verdeckten Vision von Jesus, dass das Reich Gottes bereits heute unter uns auf Erden da ist. Und zwar ist es dort, wo alle Menschen ihre Wurde besitzen als Kinder Gottes, keiner Not leidet und man ertraglich arm" und miteinander wie mit einem Herzen und einer Seele" lebt. Dem widersprechen die Vertreter der Kirche nach dem Evangelium des Paulus. Sie erwarten das Reich Gottes fur den Einzelnen erst im Jenseits, wenn sie den Forderungen der Kirche gehorchen, die zum Teil langst uberholt sind. Jesus fordert dagegen alle Menschen auf, die Not der Schopfung einschliesslich der Menschen jetzt mit Macht zu bekampfen. Das heisst nichts anderes, als politisch tatig zu werden, um z.B. die Ursachen des weltweiten Hungers und die Vernichtung der Umwelt durch den ausbeutenden Kapitalismus zu besiegen. Ich habe in diesem Buch beschrieben und gezeigt, wie man ihn durch ein alternatives Wirtschaftssystem ersetzen kann. Dazu mussen wir die Forderungen unseres Glaubens mit Macht offentlich vertreten. Das ist in der Nachfolge Jesu christlich legitim. Vielleicht konnen wir vom neuen Papst dabei Hilfe erwarte

It covers the period from Frederick Rapp's to George Rapp's death, and takes its title from the fact that in previous volumes all business of the Harmony Society was conducted under the name of Frederick Rapp, the financial genius of the Harmonists, and the fact that with Frederick Rapp's death, George Rapp emerged clearly for all the world to see as the absolute manager of «the only thing the children of the world respect: money.» George Rapp proves to be not only the «greatest communist of the age» but also a shrewd capitalist who outwits President Andrew Jackson's veto of the United States Bank charter renewal by withdrawing the Harmony Society account in British gold and silver and burying it safely for the security of his Harmonists. Friedrich Engels, impressed by the success of George Rapp's Harmony Society in 1845 advises German labor as men without property to safeguard themselves against the threat of hunger resulting from unemployment to organize themselves into such communes. A Cincinnati attorney-at-law in a book published in London comparing the advantages of America and England proclaims that the day will come when «the names of Rapp and Bäumeler will be associated with those of Washington and Jefferson. Indeed future ages will regard the day on which the German socialists struck the axe into the American forest as one of the most memorable epochs in the annals of the world.» French and German documents are given in their original language with English summaries or translations. This volume contains numerous German documents.
