Book excerpt: Die "Bilderflut" hat auch vor den Schulbüchern nicht haltgemacht, die heute ohne Bilder kaum noch denkbar sind. Allerdings haben diese hier die vorrangige Funktion der "Repräsentation" bzw. der "Abbildung", zum Teil werden sie auf die "Illustration" des Textes reduziert. Für die Schulbuchforschung ergeben sich aus dem "iconic turn" zwei zentrale Herausforderungen: Einerseits können Bilder in Schulbüchern nicht nur unter einer inhaltsanalytischen Perspektive untersucht werden, vielmehr ist es notwendig, die diskursive Verflechtung des visuellen Wissens in den jeweiligen gesellschaftlichen Wissensformationen zu rekonstruieren. Andererseits stellt die pädagogisch-didaktische Arbeit mit Bildern eine große Herausforderung dar, wenn das didaktische Potential der Komplexität von Bildern Berücksichtigung finden soll. Eine wesentliche Voraussetzung dafür ist die Entwicklung einer interdisziplinären Bilddidaktik, die im Bewusstsein der Differenz sprachlicher und bildlicher Zeichen die Voraussetzungen und Bedingungen eines visuellen Aneignungsprozesses zu klären hätte.Das Bild im Schulbuch wird in dem vorliegenden Band aus drei Perspektiven betrachtet. Zunächst geht es darum, die Bedeutung des Bildes im Bildungsprozess zu klären und bilddidaktische Problemstellungen zu diskutieren. Im zweiten Teil des Bandes steht insbesondere die Frage im Zentrum, wie über Bilder (national geprägte) "Weltbilder" vermittelt werden, und im letzten Teil wird die Bedeutung des Bildes im fachdidaktischen Vermittlungsprozess erörtert.
