Book Synopsis The Hitchhiker's Guide to Virtual Reality by : Mfon Akpan
Download or read book The Hitchhiker's Guide to Virtual Reality written by Mfon Akpan and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-07 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Synopsis The purpose of this book is to give educators-K-12 and university professors-a practical and tactical method for using virtual reality in the classroom. I want educators to understand why it is important for students to be exposed to virtual reality, even if they're not able to use virtual reality in the form of headsets or other accessible technological hardware. Students can understand, comprehend, and touch the technology with their minds and in their hearts, which will allow them to transition to using it in its ever-evolving forms. Technology is changing continuously and at a faster pace than we can ever keep up with. The current forms of virtual reality will not be the same which students will see when they get into high school or graduate from college. When we think about students as they move through the education process, it is imperative that we make sure they are exposed to technological understanding so they will be able to use technology in the future and lower the shock to the system. The reason I say "shock to the system" is because there may be students who have no idea that this technology exists. By being exposed to it and understanding it in the classroom, they will greatly enhance their learning journey. As educators, we owe it to them to expose them to technology and give them as many tools as possible.
Book Synopsis Folk Dances of Jamaica by : Hilary S. Carty
Download or read book Folk Dances of Jamaica written by Hilary S. Carty and published by Dance Books Limited. This book was released on 1988 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Folk Dances of Jamaica is a detailed practical and theoretical discussion of five Jamaican folk dances - the Kumina, Dinkie Minie, Quadrille, Bruckin's, and Revival. The book's strength and appeal lies in the care taken to introduce, describe and illuminate in detail these dances. The book is invaluable for the student of dance, providing as it does practical information on both technique and performance, and is illustrated with bold drawings by "H" Patten. The author herself trained as a dancer and her book was researched in traditional settings in Jamaica and at the Jamaica School of Dance, where she studied after graduating in Performing Arts from Leicester Polytechnic. She has maintained a strong interest in dance, becoming Dance and Mime Officer for East Midlands Arts in the late 1980s and then General Manager for Adzido Dance Ensemble. As Arts Council England's Director of Dance from 1994 - 2003, Hilary championed the policy, development and promotion of all forms of dance nationally and internationally, before widening her expertise through leadership roles in the arts and broader cultural and creative industries.
