Zu Beginn werden wir die Begriffe Mobbing, Cybermobbing und den aktuellen Forschungsstand genauer erläutern. Danach werden wir auf die Wahl des forschungslogischen Vorgehens eingehen und die dazugehörenden theoretischen und methodologischen Grundlagen genauer erklären – was für das weitere Verständnis der Analysearbeit sehr wichtig ist. Aufgrund des Forschungsgegenstandes war es für uns von Anfang an klar, uns für eine quantitative Methode zu entscheiden. In unserem Fall war es der Online-Fragebogen. Im Anschluss daran werden wir die Analysearbeit genau erläutern und die mit der Arbeit verbundenen Vorgehensweisen nachvollziehbar aufgliedern, beginnend bei der Entwicklung der Fragestellung und der Wahl des Erhebungsinstrumentes. Danach werden wir auf den Zugang zum empirischen Feld und unsere zeitlichen Ressourcen eingehen. Am Schluss möchten wir unsere Ergebnisse und Schlussfolgerungen darlegen. Im Gesamtresümee werden wir einen kritischen Blick auf die von uns erarbeiteten Ergebnisse werfen, und die sich daraus ergebenden Konsequenzen von Cybermobbing erläutern. Vor einigen Jahren noch wurden besonders der Fernsehkonsum und das Spielen von gewaltverherrlichenden Computerspielen kritisch von Eltern und der Gesellschaft betrachtet. Heutzutage liegt der Fokus der elterlichen Sorge stärker auf der Smartphone-Nutzung der Kinder und Jugendlichen. Soziale Medien sind das Internetangebot, das Jugendliche am häufigsten nutzen und die, aufgrund der Internetverbindungen, die mittlerweile fast jedes Handy aufweist, permanent abrufbar sind. Es kann also gesagt werden, dass soziale Medien ein nicht mehr wegzudenkender Bestandteil des Lebens moderner Jugendlicher sind. Dabei dürfen jedoch die negativen Seiten der Digitalisierung nicht vernachlässigt werden. Weltweit zeigen 10 % bis 30 % der Jugendlichen ein problematisches Nutzungsverhalten bezüglich ihrer Smartphones, die unter anderem mit psychischen Schäden einhergehen. Aufgrund der bestehenden Relevanz der Thematik befasst sich diese Forschungsarbeit mit „Cybermobbing“ und dessen psychischen Auswirkungen auf 14- bis 18-Jährige.
