Book Synopsis The Palaeotypography of the French Renaissance by : Hendrik D. L. Vervliet
Download or read book The Palaeotypography of the French Renaissance written by Hendrik D. L. Vervliet and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2008 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of thirteen essays examines sixteenth-century type design in France. Typefaces developed during this period were to influence decisively the typography of the centuries which followed, and they continue to influence a great many contemporary typefaces. The papers' common goal is to establish the paternity of the typefaces described and critically to appraise their attributions, many of which have previously been inadequately ascribed. Such an approach will be of interest to type historians and type designers seeking better-documented attributions, and to historians, philologists, and bibliographers, whose study of historical imprints will benefit from more accurate type descriptions. The papers and illustrations focus on the most important letter-cutters of the French Renaissance, including Simon de Colines, Robert Estienne, Claude Garamont, Robert Granjon, Pierre Haultin, and also include a number of minor masters of the period.

Book Synopsis Dealing with Conceptualisations of Learning by : Ane Qvortrup
Download or read book Dealing with Conceptualisations of Learning written by Ane Qvortrup and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-10 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the multiple aims/means structure in educational processes of learning. Learning happens everywhere. When dealing with learning in educational contexts, means and aims always have both a normative and an instrumental content. Furthermore, learning always actualises itself in terms of methods and targets and must be viewed from a teacher’s as well as a student’s perspective. The book deals with learning by using ‘means’ and ‘aim’ as metaphors and analytical categories. As a mean, learning is the description of ‘something which happens in a process’. As an aim, learning is the description of a kind of expertise, which might be the result of a learning process. In order to get an analytical grip of learning as a phenomenon in teaching and within student/teacher interactions, the book conceptualises and discusses the multiple aims/means structure, which we assume characterises processes of learning that involve a teacher and a student.
