Download or read book Current Trends in Bone Grafting written by Ping-Chung Leung and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bone grafting is an essential technique in bone and joint surgery. This book covers the different types of graft, especially the viable ones created with microvascular anastomoses. Both conventional techniques and newer methods are included, with emphasis on the latter. New approaches are highlighted in the application of vascularised bone grafts in post-resection bony reconstruction and of vascularised composite bone grafts in hand reconstruction. With increased awareness of the advantages of bone grafts, surgeons will more readily recognize indications and identify areas of application.

Download or read book Bone Grafting written by Raja Kummoona and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-12-19 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This valuable book presents clinical experiences and research of bone grafting. Bone grafting is an essential technique practiced by craniofacial, maxillofacial, orthopedic, neuro, reconstructive and oral surgeons. Bone grafting can be used for reconstruction and restoring missing bone in trauma and tumor surgery of the facial bone or in road traffic accidents with multiple injuries and in post-traumatic missile war injuries to the face or limbs. Bone grafts, in the form of Kummoona Chondro-Ossous graft or Costo-Chondral graft, are used for reconstruction of damage TMJ for restoration of growth, function, and repair. Bone grafting is a surgical procedure where the iliac crest or rib or tibia is used to perform grafting. In this book, we examine the experimental studies on rabbits to understand the cellular changes associated with bone grafting. From this, we noticed that mesenchymal stem cells and growth factor are released from platelets and these play an important role in healing the bone graft. We recommend this valuable book to all cranio-maxillofacial, orthopedic, plastic, reconstructive, neuro and oral surgeons and to all postgraduate students studying bone grafting.

Download or read book Bone Grafts written by Iulian Nusem and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autogenous bone grafting continues to be the gold standard for treating osseous defects and stimulating new bone formation. Harvesting of autogenous bone grafts can be associated with a significant risk of complications. Also, the amount of bone graft that can be harvested is limited. Therefore, efforts have been made to develop different bone graft substitutes such as: allografts, synthetic bone substitutes, platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow aspirate, Bone Morphogenetic Proteins, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, Fibroblast Growth Factors, parathyroid hormone and Wnt signalling. Some techniques with the use of bone autografts in orthopaedics and dentistry, complications associated with the harvest of autografts, the use of other alternatives, their biology and clinical applications and a look into research into new materials and technologies aiming to improve this field in medicine will be discussed in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bone grafting is the surgical procedure in which new bone (bone graft) or a replacement material (graft substitute), is placed into bone fractures or bone defects to aid in healing. Bone grafting is in the field of interest of many surgical specialties, such as: orthopedics, neurosurgery, dentistry, plastic surgery, head and neck surgery, otolaryngology and others. In common, all these specialties have to handle problems concerning the lack of bone tissue or impaired fracture healing. There is a myriad of surgical techniques nowadays involving some kind of bone graft or bone graft substitute. This book gathers authors from different continents, with different points of view and different experiences with bone grafting. Leading researchers of Asia, America and Europe have contributed as authors. In this book, the reader can find chapters from the ones on basic principles, devoted to students, to the ones on research results and description of new techniques, experts will find very beneficial.
