Cabe destacar de esta obra su forma de crear cuadros rurales y de costumbres con un ambiente narrativo ligero e imitación romántica que hace placentera la transmisión e interiorización de estas tradiciones gracias a un tono a veces humorístico, y otras, satírico. Esta obra, tal y como la conocemos como recopilatorio, se publicó en Madrid en 1921 de manera póstuma a su muerte, sin embargo, algunas partes se publicaron en 1911 y 1914 de forma individual.
