Book Synopsis Wisdom According to Paul in Relation to the Corinthian Problems by : Richard C. Rojas

This book was released on 2024-09-30 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problems of boasting, division, and human wisdom are apparent in 1 Corinthians 1–4. Addressing their interrelated nature, Dr. Richard Rojas argues they are rooted in a false understanding of wisdom. He skilfully explores how Paul’s response to the issues is found in his wisdom teaching, especially the meaning and significance of “Christ, the wisdom of God.” In this detailed study, Dr. Rojas presents a sociological and rhetorical analysis of 1 Corinthians 1–4 that brings a fresh perspective on Paul’s response to church tension with important truths for churches today. Pauline scholars and church practitioners alike will find in these pages a rich resource on 1 Corinthians and Paul’s teaching.

Book Synopsis The Spirit in Galatia by : David J. Lull
Download or read book The Spirit in Galatia written by David J. Lull and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2006-07-01 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of the term pneuma in Paul's letter to the Galations is needed from the side of NT scholarship, because debate continues over the question about the nature of the crisis in the churches of Galatia and, therefore, about the historical occasion of Paul's statements about the Spirit. The focus of this debate is the character of Paul's opponents in the Galatian churches. Currently, the consensus is limited to a single point: that someone was engaging in a circumcizing campaign in the Galatian churches. But on the other points no agreement exists. The two parts of this study are distinguished in that the first part deals with the historical context of Paul's statements about the Spirit in Galatians: that is, the events because of which Paul wrote the letter, and the nature and social setting of expriences of the Spirit in the life of the Galatian churches. The second part deals with the theology of the Spirit in Paul's message to the Galatians, which has three aspects-soteriology, christology, and eschatology. -from the Introduction
