Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the successful private, public and civil society models of agriculture value chains in India and addresses relevant challenges and opportunities to improve their efficiency and inclusiveness. It promotes the value-chain approach as a tool to improve access to finance for small holder farmers and discusses the possible structure of and regulatory framework for the ‘National Common Agricultural Market’— a term that featured in the Indian Finance Minister’s 2014–15 budget speech, and which is aimed towards standardizing and improving transparency in agricultural trade practices across states under a single licensing system. The book deliberates on the potential of developing innovative financial instruments into the value chain framework by supporting tripartite agreements between producers, lead firms and financial institutions. Its fourteen chapters are divided into three parts—Agriculture Value Chain Financing: Theoretical Framework, Agriculture Value Chain Financing in Cases of Select Commodities; and Institutional Framework for Agriculture Value Chain Financing. Since the concept of value chain financing is being considered as a future policy agenda, the book is of great interest to corporations dealing with agricultural inputs and outputs; commercial, regional, rural and cooperative banks; policy makers; academicians and NGOs.

Although the field of rural credit is vast and specialised, the authors have carefully picked up the most important components of this domain, which will be immensely useful to readers to get first-hand knowledge on the subject. While it traces the important institutional mechanisms of rural and agricultural credit in India, it also discusses the emerging paradigms of rural finance and ICT interventions, which can potentially restructure delivery mechanisms to encourage product innovation for serving the financial needs of those at the bottom of the pyramid population. The authors have attempted to cover every important aspect of rural finance by incorporating relevant discussions on institutions, governance, policy framework, schemes, and practices along with issues and concerns in the area of agricultural finance, rural credit and financial inclusion. The text has been woven in a cohesive manner so that the reader can appreciate the historic milestones while comprehending the present situation. Book Synopsis Indian Agriculture-Current Scenario by : B N Harisha
Download or read book Indian Agriculture-Current Scenario written by B N Harisha and published by Educreation Publishing. This book was released on 2018-07-20 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the impact of credit system in Agriculture sector, particularly in borrower classes. A majority of the borrowers had one or more problems on the credit delivery system. Such problems could be grouped broadly under two categories, viz., during and after obtaining loans. Problems in obtaining loans included complicated procedures, lack of previous experience, distant location of the bank, and bribe. The analysis carried out in this book has clearly brought out the fact that in agricultural credit there are two classes of borrowers. One class, which has smaller land holdings, lesser capital equipment and is at the lower end of economic prosperity. This cooperative borrower class mainly comprises the small and marginal farmers. The other class which emerges is basically the capitalist farmer who takes up farming on a commercial basis. This class is more sophisticated having larger land holdings and higher amounts of capital equipment. All the articles in this book are research oriented and give insight to the concept of Federalism. This book will be a valuable reference for researchers, professionals, Academicians and Policy experts and students.
