Download or read book Human Resource Development in Urban Co-operative Banks written by H Y Kamble and published by Scholars World. This book was released on 2018 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book emphasises the role of HRD policies in development of organisational and individual goals. Human resources are now- a-days considered as assets in all organisations. In the service sector like banking, human resources play a predominant role in successful delivery of the service. In the banking industry, the only sector adopting socialist pattern of economy is co-operative sector. This sector is wide since it includes co-operative banks, co-operative societies, multi purpose organizations, etc. In the urban and semi urban areas, the poor and needy people are served by urban co-operative banks with financial assistance without much hindrance. The performance of the urban co-operative banks depends on their profitability. But the profitability of these banks depends on the employees working in the organization. The efficiency of employees is influenced by the HRD policies. The HRD policies of the urban co-operative banks are generally determined by the management. In this process, neither management nor government realized the vital role of employees in developing these banks. Several committees were appointed by Central as well as State Governments to look into the problems of co-operatives and to give recommendations. But no committee has been appointed to study the problems of employees working in co-operatives. Therefore, the present study is conducted empirically to examine the HRD policies and practices in these banks. This book contains the introduction of basic concepts about co-operative movement and human resource development, profile of the area of the study, profile of the banks selected for study, the profile of the respondents, the HRD policies adopted in the co-operative sector, analysis of the perceptions of the employees on HRD policies in urban co-operative banks. Accordingly, the whole research study is presented in easily understandable manner and with constructive criticism. Thus, the research will prove to be useful to the researchers, Government officials, co-operative leaders and a guideline to the urban co-operative banks while framing HRD policies and to increase the employee competence.

Book Synopsis Cooperatives and the World of Work by : Bruno Roelants
Download or read book Cooperatives and the World of Work written by Bruno Roelants and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the world of work and jobs is more uncertain than ever because of various trends impacting it, including the rise of robotics and the gig economy, Cooperatives and the World of Work furthers the debate on the future of work, sustainable development, and the social and solidarity economy of which cooperatives are a fundamental component. Throughout the book, the authors, who are experts in their respective fields, do not limit themselves to praising the advantages of the cooperative model. Rather, they challenge the narrow understanding of cooperatives as a mere business model and raise debate on the more fundamental role that cooperatives play in responding to social changes and in changing society itself. The book is unique in tracing the historical connection between cooperatives and the world of work since the end of the First World War and the recent shifts and restructuring in enterprise and the workplace. It presents a redefinition of the very concept of work, focusing on organizational innovation. This book is published in recognition of 100 years of the International Labour Organization, and gathers together research from leading experts who were brought together at an event co-hosted by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Book Synopsis Institution and Human Resource Capacity Building in ASEAN by : United Nations. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific
Download or read book Institution and Human Resource Capacity Building in ASEAN written by United Nations. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and published by United Nations Publications. This book was released on 1999 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most southeast Asian countries have until recently had a long period of rapid and reasonably equitable growth. This remarkable performace was achieved largely because sound policies were implemented effectively by capable institutions with competent staff. This is especially true in key policy areas such as macroeconomic management, product transformations, trade and investment promotion, and infrastructure development. Many developing economies in Asia and the Pacific, including the new and potentially new members of ASEAN, namely Camodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Viet Nam, which are facing enormous challenges resulting from domestic economic reforms and exposure to the international economy, could benefit from the experiences of institution and human resource capacity building in older ASEAN countries. This publication contains an overview and four country studies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
Book Synopsis Creating Cooperation by : Pepper D. Culpepper
Download or read book Creating Cooperation written by Pepper D. Culpepper and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2018-07-05 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Creating Cooperation, Pepper D. Culpepper explains the successes and failures of human capital reforms adopted by the French and German governments in the 1990s. Employers and employees both stand to gain from corporate investment in worker skills, but uncertainty and mutual distrust among companies doom many policy initiatives to failure. Higher skills benefit society as a whole, so national governments want to foster them. However, business firms often will not invest in training that makes their workers more attractive to other employers, even though they would prefer having better-skilled workers.Culpepper sees in European training programs a challenge typical of contemporary problems of public policy: success increasingly depends on the ability of governments to convince private actors to cooperate with each other. In the United States as in Europe, he argues, policy-makers can achieve this goal only by incorporating the insights of private information into public policy. Culpepper demonstrates that the lessons of decentralized cooperation extend to industrial and environmental policies. In the final chapter, he examines regional innovation programs in the United Kingdom and the clean-up of the Chesapeake Bay in the United States—a domestic problem that required the coordination of disparate agencies and stakeholders.

Download or read book Cooperatives in the Global Economy written by Tapas R. Dash and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-05-19 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooperatives in the Global Economy presents a unique collection of research-based chapters contributed by leading social and economic thinkers that provide critical insights into how the cooperative business model meets the challenges of the complex global problems in today’s competitive economy. Apart from theoretical arguments in favor of the value-based cooperative business model, this book presents the performance indicators of various forms of cooperatives, their potentialities, and challenges they face across borders. The contributors reexamine how cooperatives empower the marginalized population of the world by bringing them into the mainstream of socio-economic activities through creating employment opportunities, working towards alleviation of poverty, ensuring for more equitable distribution of scarce resources, and providing the basis for a sustainable economy and its meaningful growth. Today, in the global competitive economy, the challenges for cooperatives are enormous due to their particular value commitments, forms of incorporation, and organizational structures. In spite of the presence of several challenges, cooperatives promote economic growth and social justice. In this context, this book also presents the critical roles of cooperatives in balancing economic, social, and environmental concerns to build a better, equitable, and sustainable world.
Book Synopsis Public Relations and Media in Cooperatives: An Indian Perspective by : Sanjay Kumar Verma
Download or read book Public Relations and Media in Cooperatives: An Indian Perspective written by Sanjay Kumar Verma and published by Studera Press. This book was released on 2019-09-01 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when effective communications has become the biggest issue confronting the cooperative movement globally, the book delves into the issues of Public Relations and Media in the context of cooperatives in India. Being the largest cooperative movement in the world, with significant achievements in various areas of socio-economic activities, the Indian cooperative movement faces a big challenge of image-building which can enhance the profile of the cooperative movement, and create awareness about the beneficial aspects of cooperative development amongst the general masses. Against this backdrop, the book is a timely endeavour to analyse the issues of public relations and media which have an important role in image-building of the cooperative sector. The book with a strategic orientation comes up with fresh perspectives so as to prepare a road-map for strengthening the functioning of public relations and media in the working of cooperatives in India. As communications is considered the weakest link in the functioning of the cooperative sector, there is a strong realization that the cooperative movement in India cannot succeed without a vibrant public relations and media policy. As the communication literature in the cooperative sector in India is scanty, the book also fills a big void in enriching the subjects of public relations and media, which are generally neglected. The book deals with a wide gamut of vital issues like importance of public relations, research in public relations, media relations, community media, cooperative advocacy, success stories, strategic communications, social media, role of blogs, and also some case studies related to public relations and media. The book provides a refreshing referral benefit to students and teachers of public relations and media, research scholars, faculty members, academicians, practitioners and policy-makers related to the cooperative sector in India and abroad.

They offer insight as to what these changes mean, both empirically and theoretically, for community development in the decades to come. This book is a compilation of articles published in the journal Community Development.
