This book was released on 1998 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focuses on a type of material mainly used in place of compacted backfill for pipe embedment and backfill, but gaining widely in applications. It is a mixture of cementitious material, soil, water, and sometimes fly ash and admixtures. Here 26 papers, from a June 1997 symposium in St. Louis, Missouri, describe new design procedures, new applications, and installation innovations in order to help assess the need for new or revised standards. They cover ingredients, properties, test methods, standards and specifications, case histories, and pipeline applications. The five current standards are appended. Download or read book Compressive Strength of Concrete written by Pavel Krivenko and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete made using mineral cements, the raw materials which on earth are practically endless, is known as one of the oldest building materials and during the last decades of the twentieth century has become a dominant building material for general use. At the same time, the requirements of the quality of concrete and its performance properties, in particular compressive strength, durability, economical efficiency, and low negative impact of its manufacture on the environment have not yet been completely met. Bearing these requirements in mind, researchers and engineers worldwide are working on how to satisfy these requirements. This book has been written by researchers and experts in the field and provides the state of the art on recent progress achieved on the properties of concrete, including concrete in which industrial by-products are utilized. The book is dedicated to graduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers in related fields.
Book Synopsis Test Methods for Controlled Low-Strength Material (CLSM) by : JL. Hitch
Download or read book Test Methods for Controlled Low-Strength Material (CLSM) written by JL. Hitch and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Controlled low-strength material (CLSM) encompasses a variety of fill materials that are primarily used as replacements for compacted backfill. The history of CLSM tracing back to its inception as K-Krete® provides a basis for how test methods came into existence. The American Concrete Institute's (ACI) work assimilating all of the knowledge gained throughout history, including a working definition of CLSM, resulted in a state-of-the-art report which brought this new fill technology to the construction industry. It was ACI who originally recognized the need for test methods to be developed specifically for CLSM.

Book Synopsis Cement Replacement Materials by : Ali Akbar Ramezanianpour
Download or read book Cement Replacement Materials written by Ali Akbar Ramezanianpour and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to present the latest findings in the properties and application of Supplementary Cementing Materials and blended cements currently used in the world in concrete. Sustainability is an important issue all over the world. Carbon dioxide emission has been a serious problem in the world due to the greenhouse effect. Today many countries agreed to reduce the emission of CO2. Many phases of cement and concrete technology can affect sustainability. Cement and concrete industry is responsible for the production of 7% carbon dioxide of the total world CO2 emission. The use of supplementary cementing materials (SCM), design of concrete mixtures with optimum content of cement and enhancement of concrete durability are the main issues towards sustainability in concrete industry.
Book Synopsis Long Term Strength Gain of Controlled Low-Strength Materials by : JI. Mullarky
Download or read book Long Term Strength Gain of Controlled Low-Strength Materials written by JI. Mullarky and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Controlled low-strength material (CLSM) is commonly used as a backfill in utility trenches and other applications. The fill must gain sufficient strength to allow for early repaying and support traffic loads. However, the ultimate strength of the fill material must not exceed 50 to 200 psi (0.344 to 1.38 MPa) to allow for re-excavation of the trench should repairs be necessary. Concern over the long term strength gain of CLSM has prompted the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association to initiate a 2 year cooperative study that will investigate mix parameters that control long term strength. Comparisons of standard strength tests with removeability of the in-place fill will be made. The study will also evaluate ASTM provisional test methods for CLSM. Preliminary results are reported in this paper.
