Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the field of robotics there exist a collection of problems that make the creation of a universal functioning robot extremely difficult. These problems are collectively known as the “Control Factor X Problem”. However, it should be noted that none of the problems of creating a universally functioning of the solutions that have been applied to these problems. I robot deal with Asimov’s “Laws of Robotics”. For, if it were so simple a problem as the conflicts of Asimov’s “Laws of Robotics”, universal fully functional robots would have become ubiquitous (Dr. Isaac Asimov’s laws of robotics are founded on the three rules that all robots must first of all protect all humans, second of all protect themselves and third of all obey orders from a human except when it comes into conflict with the first two rules).

Book Synopsis Advanced Multiresponse Process Optimisation by : Tatjana V. Šibalija
Download or read book Advanced Multiresponse Process Optimisation written by Tatjana V. Šibalija and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-25 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an intelligent, integrated, problem-independent method for multiresponse process optimization. In contrast to traditional approaches, the idea of this method is to provide a unique model for the optimization of various processes, without imposition of assumptions relating to the type of process, the type and number of process parameters and responses, or interdependences among them. The presented method for experimental design of processes with multiple correlated responses is composed of three modules: an expert system that selects the experimental plan based on the orthogonal arrays; the factor effects approach, which performs processing of experimental data based on Taguchi’s quality loss function and multivariate statistical methods; and process modeling and optimization based on artificial neural networks and metaheuristic optimization algorithms. The implementation is demonstrated using four case studies relating to high-tech industries and advanced, non-conventional processes.
Download or read book Experiments written by C. F. Jeff Wu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-12-29 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praise for the First Edition: "If you ... want an up-to-date, definitive reference written by authors who have contributed much to this field, then this book is an essential addition to your library." —Journal of the American Statistical Association A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF MODERN EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN Experiments: Planning, Analysis, and Optimization, Third Edition provides a complete discussion of modern experimental design for product and process improvement—the design and analysis of experiments and their applications for system optimization, robustness, and treatment comparison. While maintaining the same easy-to-follow style as the previous editions, this book continues to present an integrated system of experimental design and analysis that can be applied across various fields of research including engineering, medicine, and the physical sciences. New chapters provide modern updates on practical optimal design and computer experiments, an explanation of computer simulations as an alternative to physical experiments. Each chapter begins with a real-world example of an experiment followed by the methods required to design that type of experiment. The chapters conclude with an application of the methods to the experiment, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The authors modernize accepted methodologies while refining many cutting-edge topics including robust parameter design, analysis of non-normal data, analysis of experiments with complex aliasing, multilevel designs, minimum aberration designs, and orthogonal arrays. The third edition includes: Information on the design and analysis of computer experiments A discussion of practical optimal design of experiments An introduction to conditional main effect (CME) analysis and definitive screening designs (DSDs) New exercise problems This book includes valuable exercises and problems, allowing the reader to gauge their progress and retention of the book's subject matter as they complete each chapter. Drawing on examples from their combined years of working with industrial clients, the authors present many cutting-edge topics in a single, easily accessible source. Extensive case studies, including goals, data, and experimental designs, are also included, and the book's data sets can be found on a related FTP site, along with additional supplemental material. Chapter summaries provide a succinct outline of discussed methods, and extensive appendices direct readers to resources for further study. Experiments: Planning, Analysis, and Optimization, Third Edition is an excellent book for design of experiments courses at the upper-undergraduate and graduate levels. It is also a valuable resource for practicing engineers and statisticians.
Book Synopsis Numerical Solution of Boundary Value Problems for Ordinary Differential Equations by : Uri M. Ascher
Download or read book Numerical Solution of Boundary Value Problems for Ordinary Differential Equations written by Uri M. Ascher and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1994-12-01 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the most comprehensive, up-to-date account of the popular numerical methods for solving boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations. It aims at a thorough understanding of the field by giving an in-depth analysis of the numerical methods by using decoupling principles. Numerous exercises and real-world examples are used throughout to demonstrate the methods and the theory. Although first published in 1988, this republication remains the most comprehensive theoretical coverage of the subject matter, not available elsewhere in one volume. Many problems, arising in a wide variety of application areas, give rise to mathematical models which form boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations. These problems rarely have a closed form solution, and computer simulation is typically used to obtain their approximate solution. This book discusses methods to carry out such computer simulations in a robust, efficient, and reliable manner.
Book Synopsis Statistical Robust Design by : Magnus Arner
Download or read book Statistical Robust Design written by Magnus Arner and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-04-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A UNIQUELY PRACTICAL APPROACH TO ROBUST DESIGN FROM A STATISTICAL AND ENGINEERING PERSPECTIVE Variation in environment, usage conditions, and the manufacturing process has long presented a challenge in product engineering, and reducing variation is universally recognized as a key to improving reliability and productivity. One key and cost-effective way to achieve this is by robust design – making the product as insensitive as possible to variation. With Design for Six Sigma training programs primarily in mind, the author of this book offers practical examples that will help to guide product engineers through every stage of experimental design: formulating problems, planning experiments, and analysing data. He discusses both physical and virtual techniques, and includes numerous exercises and solutions that make the book an ideal resource for teaching or self-study. • Presents a practical approach to robust design through design of experiments. • Offers a balance between statistical and industrial aspects of robust design. • Includes practical exercises, making the book useful for teaching. • Covers both physical and virtual approaches to robust design. • Supported by an accompanying website (www.wiley/com/go/robust) featuring MATLAB® scripts and solutions to exercises. • Written by an experienced industrial design practitioner. This book’s state of the art perspective will be of benefit to practitioners of robust design in industry, consultants providing training in Design for Six Sigma, and quality engineers. It will also be a valuable resource for specialized university courses in statistics or quality engineering.
