Les troubles visuels sont un des facteurs de risque de chute, mais le lien qui unit les troubles de la vision périphérique et la stabilité posturale n'est connu que de façon sommaire. La capacité d'exploration de l'environnement visuel joue probablement un rôle essentiel dans le risque de chute, tandis que l'attention visuelle du sujet décline avec l'âge en raison d'une réduction du champ visuel attentionnel. Ce dernier peut être bien inférieur au champ visuel mesuré par la périmétrie. Notre étude vise à étudier l'impact de la vision périphérique dans le risque de chute du sujet âgé en caractérisant le lien entre les troubles visuels et la stabilité posturale. Protocole : L'objectif est de caractériser la stabilité posturale en fonction de la difficulté de la tâche visuelle en comparant une population de sujets âgés de plus de 70 ans, chuteurs et non chuteurs. Les objectifs secondaires sont de mettre en relation performances visuelles et performances posturales pour montrer un lien étroit entre déficiences visuelles et posturales. Les personnes seront évaluées en position debout sur une plateforme de force mesurant la stabilité posturale, devant un écran panoramique de 5 m de long couvrant les 180° du champ visuel, dans trois conditions visuelles : fixation d'une croix noire, exploration libre d'une scène, recherche d'objets dans une scène. Retombées cliniques : Ce travail devrait permettre une meilleure compréhension des risques de chute liés à la vision périphérique, permettant le développement ultérieur de méthodes diagnostiques et rééducatrices adaptées et personnalisées dans le but à long terme de préserver l'autonomie et la qualité de vie des personnes âgées.
