Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nos travaux concernent l'étude d'une extension d'un problème d'ordonnancement bien connu sous l'appellation job shop. Nous appelons cette extension le General Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (GFJSSP). Celui-ci se rencontre dans différents types d'ateliers ayant comme caractéristique commune d'être soumis à des contraintes dues à des ressources de transport. Le GFJSSP se caractérise par l'intégration de machines et robots flexibles. Le terme General induit par ailleurs la présence de robots dont la capacité est supposée unitaire dans notre étude, des temps opératoires bornés, et la possibilité de prise en compte d'emplacements de stockage spécifiques. Après avoir défini l'atelier et le problème correspondant à cette extension, nous avons proposé deux modélisations du GFJSSP ainsi défini : une première modélisation mathématique linéaire, et une modélisation graphique, qui correspond à une généralisation du graphe disjonctif couramment utilisé pour les problèmes de job shop. Nous avons ensuite abordé la résolution suivant deux étapes : tout d'abord en nous focalisant sur l'aspect séquencement des tâches de traitement et de transport, pour lequel nous avons élaboré deux méthodes heuristiques (de type Tabou et basée sur une procédure de shifting bottleneck améliorée) ; puis en intégrant dans un deuxième temps la problématique de l'affectation induite par la flexibilité de certaines ressources. Pour cette dernière étape, nous avons combiné les méthodes précédentes avec un algorithme génétique. L'algorithme hybride obtenu nous permet de résoudre des instances de la littérature correspondant à divers cas spécifiques, avec des résultats assez proches des meilleures méthodes dédiées. A termes, il pourrait être intégré dans un système d'aide à la décision général qui s'affranchirait de la phase d'identification préalable du type de job shop considéré, et serait adapté à la résolution de nombreux cas (avec ou sans problème d'affectation, temps de traitement fixes ou bornés, avec ou sans stockage, etc..).

Book excerpt: The factory scheduling problem, that of allocating machines to competing jobs in manufacturing facilities to optimize or at least improve system performance, is encountered in many different manufacturing environments. Given the competitive pressures faced by many companies in today's rapidly changing global markets, improved factory scheduling should contribute to a flrm's success. However, even though an extensive body of research on scheduling models has been in existence for at least the last three decades, most of the techniques currently in use in industry are relatively simplistic, and have not made use of this body of knowledge. In this book we describe a systematic, long-term research effort aimed at developing effective scheduling algorithms for complex manufacturing facilities. We focus on a speciflc industrial context, that of semiconductor manufacturing, and try to combine knowledge of the physical production system with the methods and results of scheduling research to develop effective approximate solution procedures for these problems. The class of methods we suggest, decomposition methods, constitute a broad family of heuristic approaches to large, NP-hard scheduling problems which can be applied in other environments in addition to those studied in this book.

MCDM consists mostly of two branches, multiple criteria optimization and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). While MCDA is typically concerned with multiple criteria problems that have a small number of alternatives often in an environment of uncertainty (location of an airport, type of drug rehabilitation program), multiple criteria optimization is typically directed at problems formulated within a mathematical programming framework, but with a stack of objectives instead of just one (river basin management, engineering component design, product distribution). It is about the most modern treatment of multiple criteria optimization that this book is concerned. I look at this book as a nicely organized and well-rounded presentation of what I view as ”new wave” topics in multiple criteria optimization. Looking back to the origins of MCDM, most people agree that it was not until about the early 1970s that multiple criteria optimization c- gealed as a field. At this time, and for about the following fifteen years, the focus was on theories of multiple objective linear programming that subsume conventional (single criterion) linear programming, algorithms for characterizing the efficient set, theoretical vector-maximum dev- opments, and interactive procedures.
