Book excerpt: Les processus physico-chimiques de propagation des détonations dans les mélanges hétérogènes gaz-particules solides ou gaz-gouttelettes liquides ont été analysés à partir de simulations numériques de la structure cellulaire de détonation. Dans le cas des suspensions de particules d'aluminium, deux modèles de combustion ont été incorporés au code de calcul EFAE du LCD. En utilisant un seul paramètre d'ajustement pour se calibrer sur les résultats expérimentaux existants, on obtient des valeurs raisonnables de la largeur caractéristique de la structure cellulaire lambda = 40 cm pour le mélange Al / Air et lambda = 5-10 cm pour le mélange Al/O(2). L'influence du diamètre des particules dpo a été mise en évidence sur les longueurs de zones d’induction Li et de combustion Lc (Li ~ dpo et Lc ~ dpo (1.8) ) et sur la structure cellulaire lambda ~ dpo1.4. Contrairement au cas des détonations gazeuses, l'inflammation des particules n'a pas lieu derrière les points triples, mais dans les zones de basse pression où la concentration en particules est plus faible, permettant ainsi leur inflammation rapide. Le régime hélicoïdal de détonation a été simulé pour la première fois dans les mélanges de particules d'aluminium en suspension dans une atmosphère gazeuse oxydante. Les valeurs du rayon critique de détonation Rc et de l'énergie critique d’initiation Ec (obtenues par extension des corrélations établies dans les gaz) ont été prédites : Rc = 1 m, Ec = 10(5) J (Al / O(2)) et Rc = 8m, Ec = 5.12 x 10(7) J (Al / Air). Elles sont confirmées par les expériences existantes. Dans le cas d'aérosols de gouttelettes d'hydrocarbures, un modèle d'évaporation basé sur le mode dit de « stripping » derrière un choc et sur le régime diffusif, couplé à une cinétique chimique à deux étapes (induction-combustion) a été incorporé au code. Les premières simulations de la structure cellulaire pour les mélanges air-octane mènent à une taille de cellule en accord avec les résultats expérimentaux existants (lambda = 4,5 cm).
