Book Synopsis Electromagnetic Wave Diffraction by Conducting Screens pseudodifferential operators in diffraction problems by : Yu. G. Smirnov
Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Diffraction by Conducting Screens pseudodifferential operators in diffraction problems written by Yu. G. Smirnov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-03-23 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the latest problems of modern mathematical methods for three-dimensional problems of diffraction by arbitrary conducting screens. This comprehensive study provides an introduction to methods of constructing generalized solutions, elements of potential theory, and other underlying mathematical tools. The problem settings, which turn out to be extremely effective, differ significantly from the known approaches and are based on the original concept of vector spaces 'produced' by Maxwell equations. The formalism of pseudodifferential operators enables to prove uniqueness theorems and the Fredholm property for all problems studied. Readers will gain essential insight into the state-of-the-art technique of investigating three-dimensional problems for closed and unclosed screens based on systems of pseudodifferential equations. A detailed treatment of the properties of their kernels, in particular degenerated, is included. Special attention is given to the study of smoothness of generalized solutions and properties of traces.
Book Synopsis Guiding, Diffraction, and Confinement of Optical Radiation by : Salvatore Solimeno
Download or read book Guiding, Diffraction, and Confinement of Optical Radiation written by Salvatore Solimeno and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 635 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Guiding, Diffraction, and Confinement of Optical Radiation presents a wide array of research studies on optics and electromagnetism. This book is organized into eight chapters that cover the problems related to optical radiation propagation and confinement. Chapter I examines the general features of electromagnetic propagation and introduces the basic concepts pertaining to the description of the electromagnetic field and its interaction with matter. Chapter II is devoted to asymptotic methods of solution of the wave equation, with particular emphasis on the asymptotic representation of the field in the form of the Luneburg-Kline series. This chapter also looks into a number of optical systems characterized by different refractive index distributions relying on the eikonal equation. Chapter III deals with stratified media, such as the multilayered thin films, metallic and dielectric reflectors, and interference filters. Chapters IV and V discuss the problem of propagation and diffraction integrals. Chapter VI describes the scattering from obstacles and the metallic and dielectric gratings. Chapters VII considers the passive and active resonators employed in connection with laser sources for producing a confinement near the axis of an optical cavity and Fabry-Perot interferometers and mainly relies on the use of diffraction theory. Chapter VIII presents the analytic approach to the study of transverse confinement near the axis of a dielectric waveguide hinges on the introduction of modal solutions of the wave equation. This book will be of value to quantum electronics engineers, physicists, researchers, and optics and electromagnetism graduate students.

This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Advanced Theory of Diffraction by a Semi-infinite Impedance Cone by : J.M.L Bernard
Download or read book Advanced Theory of Diffraction by a Semi-infinite Impedance Cone written by J.M.L Bernard and published by ALPHA SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED. This book was released on 2014-07-11 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical problem concerning the diffraction by a semi-infinite cone with circular cross section for the Helmholtz equation, which has well-known solutions for Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, is here considered for the more general boundary condition of constant impedance type. As previously stated by D.S. Jones, the problem then changes in complexity, beginning with the difficulty of obtaining the uniqueness of the solution. An exact analytical method is developed to reduce this problem to the determination of the solution of a well-posed non-oscillatory integral equation, of which the solution can be directly used to express the field in an integral form. Some generalization, in particular to the electromagnetic case, are also given.

Book Synopsis Waves in Focal Regions by : J.J Stamnes
Download or read book Waves in Focal Regions written by J.J Stamnes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using numerous mathematical and numerical techniques of diffraction theory, Waves in Focal Regions: Propagation, Diffraction and Focusing of Light, Sound and Water Waves provides a full and richly illustrated description of waves in focal regions. Unlike most books, the author treats electromagnetic, acoustic, and water waves in one comprehensive volume. After an introductory section, the book describes approximate diffraction theories and efficient numerical methods to study the focusing of various kinds of waves. It then covers the physical interpretation of the theories, their accuracy, and the computational savings obtained, emphasizing uniform asymptotic results that remain valid in the vicinity of shadow boundaries and caustics. The next part deals with the focusing of scalar waves, including thorough theoretical analyses and detailed contour maps of diffraction patterns in focal regions for a variety of different system parameters, such as f-number, Frensel number, aperture shape, amplitude distribution, and wavefront aberration. The author proceeds to explore the diffraction and focusing of electromagnetic waves. First solutions are derived for fields radiated by sources, reflected and refracted at plane interfaces, or diffracted by apertures in plane screens, and then these solutions are applied to study the focusing in homogeneous media and through a plane dielectric interface. In both cases, the author includes many computed results of the electromagnetic field distribution near focus. Presenting both theoretical and experimental results, the following part examines the focusing of sound and water waves by means of zone-plate lenses. The book concludes with a detailed study of the diffraction and focusing of water waves and a comparison of the results of both linear and nonlinear theories with those of experiments.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of the Physical Theory of Diffraction by : Pyotr Ya. Ufimtsev
Download or read book Fundamentals of the Physical Theory of Diffraction written by Pyotr Ya. Ufimtsev and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-04-24 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a complete, comprehensive description of the modern Physical Theory of Diffraction (PTD) based upon the concept of elementary edge waves. The theory is demonstrated with examples of the diffraction of acoustic and electromagnetic waves at perfectly reflecting objects. Readers develop the skills to apply PTD to solve various scattering problems. The derived analytic expressions clearly illustrate the physical structure of the scattered field. They additionally describe all of the reflected and diffracted rays and beams, as well as the fields in the vicinity of caustics and foci. Shadow radiation, a fundamental component of PTD, is introduced and proven to contain half the total scattered power. The equivalence relationships between acoustic and electromagnetic diffracted waves are established and emphasized. Throughout the book, the author enables readers to master both the theory and its practical applications. Plotted numeric results supplement the theory and facilitate the visualization of individual contributions of distinct parts of the scattering objects to the total diffracted field Detailed comments help readers understand and implement all the critical steps of the analytic and numeric calculations Problem sets in each chapter give readers an opportunity to analyse and investigate the diffraction phenomena

This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Diffraction of Oblique Surface Waves by a Right-Angle Bend In this paper we discuss the diffracted field that arises when an incident electromagnetic surface wave strikes the edge of a right - angle bend at an oblique angle. One face of the bend which supports the surface wave is an impedance plane and the other face is a perfector conductor. The edge of the bend may be either parallel or perpendicular to the perfectly conducting direction of the impedance plane. The diffraction of normally incident surface waves by a right - angle bend and its implication for surface. Book Synopsis Ondes et vibrations. Cours et exercices corrigés by : Gravier Étienne
Download or read book Ondes et vibrations. Cours et exercices corrigés written by Gravier Étienne and published by Editions Ellipses. This book was released on 2018-11-20 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
