Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book of the Great Contest trilogy. This text expounds upon the war in heaven and what led to the schism between the Angels of light and darkness. Most biblical scholars do not realize that it was YHWH Elohim declaring, "Let There Be Light" that revealed Christ as the light to the Angels and world. That it was in that moment that the creation became visible and seeing the wide expanse of manifest world for the first time since being created that all the morning-stars shouted for joy. It was also in that moment that dominion was granted to the Son and Lucifer being envious of Christ's appointment, conceived in mind the thought of exalting his throne above the stars and clouds of God. It was in this moment that iniquity led him to conspire overthrow which was the origin for the war in heaven.

Book Synopsis The Words by : Bediuzzaman Said Nursi
Download or read book The Words written by Bediuzzaman Said Nursi and published by IUR Press. This book was released on with total page 1008 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Words is the first volume of the Risale-i Nur and consists of thirty-three independent parts or Words, which explain and prove aspects of the fundamental matters of belief. These consist of such matters as God s existence and unity, the manifestation of the Divine Names and attributes in creation, the resurrection of the dead and the hereafter, prophethood, the miraculousness of the Qur’an, the angels, the immortality of man s spirit, Divine Determining (fate or destiny), together with such questions as the true nature of man and the universe, and man s need to worship God. Each subject is explained with comparisons and allegories, and demonstrated with reasoned arguments and logical proofs. The most profound aspects of the truths of belief, which were formerly studied only by advanced scholars, are explained in such a way that everyone, even those to whom the subject is new, may understand without difficulty. This work answers brilliantly the attacks made on the Qur’an in the name of science and philosophy, and demonstrates the rationality of belief in God and logical absurdity of denial. It shows too that man s happiness and salvation both in this world and the next lie only in belief in God and knowledge of God.

Download or read book Words written by Bediuzzaman Said Nursi and published by Tughra Books. This book was released on 2010-02-16 with total page 1090 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Words forms the first part of the Risale-i Nur collection, an approximately 6,000-page Qur’anic commentary. In this commentary Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s main concern is how to save and strengthen one’s religious belief when confronted with the current prevalent materialist philosophy. It does not explain when or why a verse was revealed, but rather the truth that it represents. Subjects discussed are God, resurrection, prophethood, destiny, ego, worship, and how the truth of these matters is revealed through nature. The author also analyzes naturalist and materialist philosophy, as well as scientific theories and findings, and refutes them based on evidence that is clearly apparent in nature itself.

Book Synopsis Heaven Ain't Goin' There by : John A. Davies
Download or read book Heaven Ain't Goin' There written by John A. Davies and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-09-30 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book issues a provocative challenge to the notion, prevalent in Christian circles, that people (or their “souls”) go to heaven when they die. Though deeply entrenched in Christian and Western culture, there is little or no biblical warrant for such a belief. John Davies presents a biblical theology of heaven, informed by mainstream biblical scholarship, and in the process sweeps away popular misconceptions. Be prepared to have your understanding of such cherished passages as John 14:2 (“In my Father’s house . . .”) challenged. But as well, this book seeks to show the more glorious dimensions of the Christian hope, our renewal as whole persons in the context of a cosmic restoration, the outcome of the victory of Jesus. Though much of the language of the Bible regarding our eternal destiny is in the form of imagery, we should continue to use such imagery, understanding it against its cultural background, rather than construct our own more impoverished mythology based more on dubious logic and sentiment.

Book Synopsis The Machiavellian Cosmos by : Anthony Parel
Download or read book The Machiavellian Cosmos written by Anthony Parel and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this highly original interpretation of Machiavelli's thought, Anthony J. Parel identifies a theme generally neglected in the scholarship of this sixteenth-century political thinker: Machiavelli's belief in the occult forces of heaven and humors. Challenging the current tendency to view Machiavelli as a pioneer of modern political science, Parel argues instead that a premodern cosmology and anthropology underlie Machiavelli's political works. Parel shows that Machiavelli's world picture owes more to the astrological cosmology prevalent in the Renaissance than to the Aristotelian or Platonic or Christian world picture. This astrological determination significantly affects Machiavelli's conceptions of history, politics, and religion and shapes his notions of virtu and fortuna. It also has considerable impact on his ethical ideas: the Machiavellian cosmos has no room for a Ruling Mind or for the Sovereignty of the Good, and humans are left to pursue their appetites for riches and glory as best they can. In a similar fashion, says Parel Machiavelli's political anthropology is influenced by the ancient idea that body humors determine a person's temperament and behavior, for he believes that humors compromise human autonomy and rationality. According to Parel, the theory of humors also affects Machiavelli's view of the body politic and his characterization of republics, princedoms, and licenzia, and Parel explicates this in new readings of The Prince, the Discourses, and the Florentine Histories.
