This book was released on 2017-03-22 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis La Mesure du développement by : Collectif
Download or read book La Mesure du développement written by Collectif and published by KARTHALA Editions. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis La quantification du progrès social by : Ramzi Hadji
Download or read book La quantification du progrès social written by Ramzi Hadji and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 802 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Where Top-down, where Bottom-up? by : Silke Tönshoff
Download or read book Where Top-down, where Bottom-up? written by Silke Tönshoff and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The necessity for regional policy-makers to find a balance between shaping and adapting to structural change is well-known. But to what extent does this apply to a European strategy with a «soft» governance process relying largely on benchmarking and peer pressure - the Lisbon Strategy for Growth and Jobs? Paradigms for an increase of competitiveness - also regional competitiveness - spelled out so often and vigorously lose their degree of assertiveness, when turning to economic theory for their foundations. The authors - economists and political scientists with practical experience in EU institutions - deal in their contributions with different issues relevant for decision-makers in modern regional policy. By doing so, it is possible to challenge the seemingly established consensus on what is feasible in the EU and what is not.

Download or read book Transforming Social Housing written by Sasha Tsenkova and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-23 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent global crisis exposed vulnerabilities of housing markets pointing to the need to build resilience through better policy tools and sustainable provision of social housing. In the context of fiscal austerity, social housing is affected by changing politics, privatization and concentration of urban poverty. Transforming Social Housing: International Perspectives explores the differences and similarities in housing policies and practices by focusing on social housing institutions and their ability to influence affordability and quality of housing. The focus is on private and not-for-profit provision in mixed-income developments supported through partnerships and a mix of policy instruments. The book brings together contributions by leading scholars on key debates affecting social housing in cities around the world. The international perspectives provide an interdisciplinary, robust overview of complex processes of change affecting people, places and homes. It is particularly well suited for students, scholars, policymakers and professionals interested in housing, urban planning and public policy. The chapters in this book were originally published in various issues of the Urban Research & Practice journal.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Africa and Economic Policy: Developing a Framework for Policymakers’ aims to fill an important gap in the current literature on economic policy in developing countries. Despite its richness and sophistication, the current economic literature has not yet succeeded in developing a framework for economic policy that is clear and intelligible to policymakers in developing countries, and which is capable of effectively delivering a sustained increase in citizens’ well-being. This ground-breaking study seeks to rectify this problem by suggesting a unique conceptual framework for designing and conducting economic policy in developing countries, particularly those in Africa.
Book Synopsis Movement, Exchange and Identity in Europe in the 2nd and 1st Millennia BC by : Anne Lehoërff

This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of papers by an international chort of contributors explores the nature of the maritime connections that appear to have existed in the Transmanche/English Channel Zone during later prehistory. Organised into three themes, ‘Movement and Identity in the Transmanche Zone’; ‘Travel and exchange’; ‘Identity and Landscape’, the papers seek to articulate notions of frontier, mobility and identity from the end of the 3rd to the beginning of the 1st millennium BC, a time when the archaeological evidence suggests that the sea facilitated connections between peoples on both sides of the Channel rather than acting as a barrier as it is so often perceived today. Recent decades have since a massive increase in large-scale excavation programmes on either side of the Channel in advance of major infra-structure and urban development, resulting in the acqusition of huge, complex new datasets enabling new insights into later prehistoric life in this crucially important region. Papers consider the role of several key archaeologists in transforming our appreciation of the connectivity of the sea in prehistory; consider the extent to which the Channel zone developed into a closely unified cultural zone during later Bronze Age in terms of communities that serviced the movement of artefacts across the Channel with both sides sharing widely in the same artefacts and social practices; examine funerary practices and settlement evidence and consider the relationship between communities in social, cultural and ideological terms; and consider mechanisms for the transmission of ideas and how they may be reflected in the archaeological record. Brings together leading scholars from the UK and northern Europe in a thought-provoking and revealing new examination of the relationship between communities in the ‘Transmanche Zone’ in the Bronze and Iron Ages. The premise is that the English Channel was a conduit for connectivity and exchange of ideas, artefacts and social practices and rather than a barrier or frontier that had to be overcome before such connections could be fostered.
