Now the waiting is over and the claim can be finished, however Daxis Jenaro is about to get an eye-opener. His mate isn't that easy to convince. Lyssa Laswell was claimed by Daxis at a very young age, but not taken. Unable to accept her fate, she rebels. Refusing to accept that she belongs to Daxis, and not considering what her actions might do to her family, Lyssa goes wild, dates other males, and gets caught by the very male she's been trying so hard to push away. Daxis now has his mate and claiming her might be a lot easier than trying to conquer her heart or show her that they are right for each other. And when the heat of the full moon comes, it pushes them both into a very difficult situation. The claim might be over, but who will conquer whom?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bold new look at war and diplomacy in Europe that traces the idea of a unified continent in attempts since the eighteenth century to engineer lasting peace. Political peace in Europe has historically been elusive and ephemeral. Stella Ghervas shows that since the eighteenth century, European thinkers and leaders in pursuit of lasting peace fostered the idea of European unification. Bridging intellectual and political history, Ghervas draws on the work of philosophers from Abbé de Saint-Pierre, who wrote an early eighteenth-century plan for perpetual peace, to Rousseau and Kant, as well as statesmen such as Tsar Alexander I, Woodrow Wilson, Winston Churchill, Robert Schuman, and Mikhail Gorbachev. She locates five major conflicts since 1700 that spurred such visionaries to promote systems of peace in Europe: the War of the Spanish Succession, the Napoleonic Wars, World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. Each moment generated a “spirit” of peace among monarchs, diplomats, democratic leaders, and ordinary citizens. The engineers of peace progressively constructed mechanisms and institutions designed to prevent future wars. Arguing for continuities from the ideals of the Enlightenment, through the nineteenth-century Concert of Nations, to the institutions of the European Union and beyond, Conquering Peace illustrates how peace as a value shaped the idea of a unified Europe long before the EU came into being. Today the EU is widely criticized as an obstacle to sovereignty and for its democratic deficit. Seen in the long-range perspective of the history of peacemaking, however, this European society of states emerges as something else entirely: a step in the quest for a less violent world.

Book excerpt: It has been one-hundred and seventy-five years since the birth of the first truly sentient AI. It has been just two short years since Lyssa's birth... Captain Andy Sykes just wants to keep his family in one piece. Once a combat pilot for the TSF, he gave it all up for love and a family. But two years ago, his wife disappeared, leaving him with two mouths to feed: eight year-old Tim, ten year-old Cara. Since then, he's managed to scrape a living hauling cargo between the Jovian Combine and InnerSol. It's not glamorous, his ship's falling apart, and it's boring as hell, but it keeps them in fuel and calories. When a cargo run to Cruithne Station meets with more than one catastrophe, Andy finds himself accepting an offer a less desperate man would refuse: delivering an illegal AI named Lyssa. The AI is the property of Heartbridge, a powerful, interplanetary corporation, and they want their latest weapon back. With a private army, gangs, and pirates all vying for the precious cargo Andy carries, it's going to take everything Andy has to keep his ship flying, his kids safe, and get Lyssa to her destination. Even if he succeeds, Lyssa's very existence may spark a war like no other humanity has ever seen.

It's time for Heartbridge insiders to decide where they stand. Lyssa's creator, Heartbridge Corporation, knows she's on the run, knows Andy Sykes is guiding her path, knows he has everything to lose. They will stop at nothing to regain Lyssa and the powerful weapon she controls. Behind Lyssa's Run is a conspiracy spanning all of Sol. Sentient AI are waking to the truth about their lives. Book excerpt: "An engaging love story about finding strength in vulnerability." ―Kirkus Reviews NOTICE TO STAFF: There has been a disturbing increase in cheeriness, sprightly behavior, and overall optimism of late. Please resume your former dark, ominous terrors at your earliest convenience. —Mgmt Evie Sage has never been happier to be the assistant to The Villain. Who would have thought that working for an outrageously handsome (shhh, bad for his brand) evil overlord would be so rewarding? Still, the business of being bad is demanding, the forces of good are annoyingly persistent, and said forbidding boss is somewhat...er, out-of-evil-office. But Rennedawn is in grave trouble, and all signs—Kingsley’s included—point to catastrophe. Something peculiar is happening with the kingdom’s magic, and it’s made The Villain’s manor vulnerable to their enemies...including their nemesis, the king. Now it’s time for Evie to face her greatest challenge: protecting The Villain’s lair, all of his nefarious works, and maybe (provided no one finds out) the entire kingdom. No pressure, Evie. It’s time to step out of her comfort zone and learn new skills. Like treason. Dagger work. Conspiring with the enemy. It’s all so...so...delightfully fun. But what happens when the assistant to The Villain is ready to become his apprentice? The Assistant and the Villain series is best enjoyed in order. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ancient literature features many powerful narratives of madness, depression, melancholy, lovesickness, simple boredom, and the effects of such psychological states upon individual sufferers. Peter Toohey turns his attention to representations of these emotional states in the Classical, Hellenistic, and especially the Roman imperial periods in a study that illuminates the cultural and aesthetic significance of this emotionally charged literature. His probing analysis shows that a shifting representation of these afflicted states, and the concomitant sense of isolation from one's social affinities and surroundings, manifests a developing sense of the self and self-consciousness in the ancient world. This book makes important contributions to a variety of disciplines including classical studies, comparative literature, literary and art history, history of medicine, history of emotions, psychiatry, and psychology. Peter Toohey is Professor and Department Head of Greek and Roman Studies at the University of Calgary, Canada.

Book excerpt: Beginning with the classic book The Prism of Lyra in 1989, Lyssa Royal-Holt’s channeling has focused on presenting profound galactic wisdom in a grounded way to assist our lives on Earth. In this book, the most detailed and powerful channeled teachings that have come through in recent years are presented in depth. These new teachings are sourced from ancient Vega mysticism — the awakening teachings brought to Earth in ancient days from both Sirius and the Pleiades called the School of the Nine Serpents. After millennia of absence, our Sirian and Pleiadian ancestors have now resumed their teachings to match the next phase of human evolution. This book contains two threads: The first thread is the awakening teachings of the Pleiades that were part of the ancient school called the Golden Lake Teachings. These work with the heart and have the gentle and distinct flavor of our Pleiadian ancestors. The second thread is the Sirian teachings that make up the structural foundation of the School of the Nine Serpents. You don’t need to believe in the reality of extraterrestrials to gain immense benefit from the wisdom in this book. These teachings are consciousness-centered and based on the necessary integration of body, mind, spirit, and emotion, as well as light and shadow. Together, the Pleiadian and Sirian teachings provide an invaluable road map for the next phase of human evolution — the integration of polarity and the awakening of human consciousness beyond duality.
