Book Synopsis Handbook of Complex Analysis by : Reiner Kuhnau
Download or read book Handbook of Complex Analysis written by Reiner Kuhnau and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-12-09 with total page 876 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geometric Function Theory is that part of Complex Analysis which covers the theory of conformal and quasiconformal mappings. Beginning with the classical Riemann mapping theorem, there is a lot of existence theorems for canonical conformal mappings. On the other side there is an extensive theory of qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings, concerning mainly a prior estimates, so called distortion theorems (including the Bieberbach conjecture with the proof of the Branges). Here a starting point was the classical Scharz lemma, and then Koebe's distortion theorem. There are several connections to mathematical physics, because of the relations to potential theory (in the plane). The Handbook of Geometric Function Theory contains also an article about constructive methods and further a Bibliography including applications eg: to electroxtatic problems, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane). · A collection of independent survey articles in the field of GeometricFunction Theory · Existence theorems and qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings · A bibliography, including many hints to applications in electrostatics, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane).
Book Synopsis Approximation By Complex Bernstein And Convolution Type Operators by : Sorin G Gal
Download or read book Approximation By Complex Bernstein And Convolution Type Operators written by Sorin G Gal and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009-08-11 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph, as its first main goal, aims to study the overconvergence phenomenon of important classes of Bernstein-type operators of one or several complex variables, that is, to extend their quantitative convergence properties to larger sets in the complex plane rather than the real intervals. The operators studied are of the following types: Bernstein, Bernstein—Faber, Bernstein-Butzer, q-Bernstein, Bernstein-Stancu, Bernstein-Kantorovich, Favard-Szász-Mirakjan, Baskakov and Balázs-Szabados.The second main objective is to provide a study of the approximation and geometric properties of several types of complex convolutions: the de la Vallée Poussin, Fejér, Riesz-Zygmund, Jackson, Rogosinski, Picard, Poisson-Cauchy, Gauss-Weierstrass, q-Picard, q-Gauss-Weierstrass, Post-Widder, rotation-invariant, Sikkema and nonlinear. Several applications to partial differential equations (PDEs) are also presented. Many of the open problems encountered in the studies are proposed at the end of each chapter. For further research, the monograph suggests and advocates similar studies for other complex Bernstein-type operators, and for other linear and nonlinear convolutions.

Book Synopsis Complex Variables by : Steven G. Krantz
Download or read book Complex Variables written by Steven G. Krantz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-04-16 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of complex numbers dates back at least 300 years—to Gauss and Euler, among others. Today complex analysis is a central part of modern analytical thinking. It is used in engineering, physics, mathematics, astrophysics, and many other fields. It provides powerful tools for doing mathematical analysis, and often yields pleasing and unanticipated answers. This book makes the subject of complex analysis accessible to a broad audience. The complex numbers are a somewhat mysterious number system that seems to come out of the blue. It is important for students to see that this is really a very concrete set of objects that has very concrete and meaningful applications. Features: This new edition is a substantial rewrite, focusing on the accessibility, applied, and visual aspect of complex analysis This book has an exceptionally large number of examples and a large number of figures. The topic is presented as a natural outgrowth of the calculus. It is not a new language, or a new way of thinking. Incisive applications appear throughout the book. Partial differential equations are used as a unifying theme.
Book Synopsis Fourier Analysis and Approximation of Functions by : Roald M. Trigub
Download or read book Fourier Analysis and Approximation of Functions written by Roald M. Trigub and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-11-07 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Fourier Analysis and Approximation of Functions basics of classical Fourier Analysis are given as well as those of approximation by polynomials, splines and entire functions of exponential type. In Chapter 1 which has an introductory nature, theorems on convergence, in that or another sense, of integral operators are given. In Chapter 2 basic properties of simple and multiple Fourier series are discussed, while in Chapter 3 those of Fourier integrals are studied. The first three chapters as well as partially Chapter 4 and classical Wiener, Bochner, Bernstein, Khintchin, and Beurling theorems in Chapter 6 might be interesting and available to all familiar with fundamentals of integration theory and elements of Complex Analysis and Operator Theory. Applied mathematicians interested in harmonic analysis and/or numerical methods based on ideas of Approximation Theory are among them. In Chapters 6-11 very recent results are sometimes given in certain directions. Many of these results have never appeared as a book or certain consistent part of a book and can be found only in periodics; looking for them in numerous journals might be quite onerous, thus this book may work as a reference source. The methods used in the book are those of classical analysis, Fourier Analysis in finite-dimensional Euclidean space Diophantine Analysis, and random choice.

Book Synopsis Numerical Conformal Mapping: Domain Decomposition And The Mapping Of Quadrilaterals by : Nicolas Papamichael
Download or read book Numerical Conformal Mapping: Domain Decomposition And The Mapping Of Quadrilaterals written by Nicolas Papamichael and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-05-31 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a unique monograph on numerical conformal mapping that gives a comprehensive account of the theoretical, computational and application aspects of the problems of determining conformal modules of quadrilaterals and of mapping conformally onto a rectangle. It contains a detailed study of the theory and application of a domain decomposition method for computing the modules and associated conformal mappings of elongated quadrilaterals, of the type that occur in engineering applications. The reader will find a highly useful and up-to-date survey of available numerical methods and associated computer software for conformal mapping. The book also highlights the crucial role that function theory plays in the development of numerical conformal mapping methods, and illustrates the theoretical insight that can be gained from the results of numerical experiments. This is a valuable resource for mathematicians, who are interested in numerical conformal mapping and wish to study some of the recent developments in the subject, and for engineers and scientists who use, or would like to use, conformal transformations and wish to find out more about the capabilities of modern numerical conformal mapping.

Download or read book Handbook of Complex Analysis written by Steven G. Krantz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of being nearly 500 years old, the subject of complex analysis is still today a vital and active part of mathematics. There are important applications in physics, engineering, and other aspects of technology. This Handbook presents contributed chapters by prominent mathematicians, including the new generation of researchers. More than a compilation of recent results, this book offers students an essential stepping-stone to gain an entry into the research life of complex analysis. Classes and seminars play a role in this process. More, though, is needed for further study. This Handbook will play that role. This book is also a reference and a source of inspiration for more seasoned mathematicians—both specialists in complex analysis and others who want to acquaint themselves with current modes of thought. The chapters in this volume are authored by leading experts and gifted expositors. They are carefully crafted presentations of diverse aspects of the field, formulated for a broad and diverse audience. This volume is a touchstone for current ideas in the broadly construed subject area of complex analysis. It should enrich the literature and point in some new directions.
