Book Synopsis Dynamic Loading and Design of Structures by : Andreas Kappos
Download or read book Dynamic Loading and Design of Structures written by Andreas Kappos and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-10-11 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now, information on the dynamic loading of structures has been widely scattered. No other book has examined the different types of loading in a comprehensive and systematic manner, and looked at their signficance in the design process. The book begins with a survey of the probabilistic background to all forms of loads, which is particularly important to dynamic loads, and then looks at the main types in turn: wind, earthquake, wave, blast and impact loading. The relevant code provisions (Eurocode and UBC American) are detailed and a number of examples are used to illustrate the principles. A final section covers the analysis for dynamic loading, drawing out the concepts underlying the treatment of all dynamic loads, and the corresponding modelling techniques. Throughout there is a focus on the modelling of structures, rather than on classical structural dynamics.

Download or read book fib Model Code for Concrete Structures 2010 written by fib - f¿d¿ration internationale du b¿ton and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) is a pre-normative organization. 'Pre-normative' implies pioneering work in codification. This work has now been realized with the fib Model Code 2010. The objectives of the fib Model Code 2010 are to serve as a basis for future codes for concrete structures, and present new developments with regard to concrete structures, structural materials and new ideas in order to achieve optimum behaviour. The fib Model Code 2010 is now the most comprehensive code on concrete structures, including their complete life cycle: conceptual design, dimensioning, construction, conservation and dismantlement. It is expected to become an important document for both national and international code committees, practitioners and researchers. The fib Model Code 2010 was produced during the last ten years through an exceptional effort by Joost Walraven (Convener; Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands), Agnieszka Bigaj-van Vliet (Technical Secretary; TNO Built Environment and Geosciences, The Netherlands) as well as experts out of 44 countries from five continents.

Book Synopsis Geopolymer Concrete Structures with Steel and FRP Reinforcements by : Mohamed Elchalakani
Download or read book Geopolymer Concrete Structures with Steel and FRP Reinforcements written by Mohamed Elchalakani and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-02-15 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geopolymer Concrete Structures with Steel and FRP Reinforcements: Analysis and Design focuses on structural behavior, including the aspects of compression, bending strength and combined action of GPC members, with the book's content based on published studies over the last two decades. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) structural members reinforced with FRP reinforcement have some advantages in resisting forces compared to conventional concrete or steel tubular members. Among the most important are the high strength and bending stiffness, fire and impact performance and favorable, construction ability and durability. To this end, there are no significant applications of these new structural elements worldwide, partly due to the lack of the understanding of their behavior and insufficient design provisions in different design manuals. This book, therefore, seeks to highlight their characteristics and future potential. - Provides comprehensive, up-to-date advances on Geopolymer Concrete (GPC) reinforced with steel and FRP bars and stirrups construction with a summary of over 100 papers published in the last decade - Compares the behavior and failure modes between Geopolymer Concrete (GPC) structures and Ordinary Portland Concrete (OPC) structures - Explains important concepts such as bond, confinement, fracture of stirrups and buckling of FRP bars - Includes an in-depth analysis of ultimate strength of GPC and OPC, considering governing failure modes - Presents design examples following international standards, including North America ACI 440.1R-15, Canadian CAN/CSA S806, and Australian such as AS 3600
Book Synopsis Materials and Structures under Shock and Impact by : Patrice Bailly
Download or read book Materials and Structures under Shock and Impact written by Patrice Bailly and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-12-31 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials and Structures under Shock and Impact In risk studies, engineers often have to consider the consequences of an accident leading to a shock on a construction. This can concern the impact of a ground vehicle or aircraft, or the effects of an explosion on an industrial site. This book presents a didactic approach starting with the theoretical elements of the mechanics of materials and structures, in order to develop their applications in the cases of shocks and impacts. The latter are studied on a local scale at first. They lead to stresses and strains in the form of waves propagating through the material, this movement then extending to the whole of the structure. The first part of the book is devoted to the study of solid dynamics where nonlinear behaviors come into play. The second part covers structural dynamics and the evaluation of the transient response introduced at the global scale of a construction. Practical methods, simplified methods and methods that are in current use by engineers are also proposed throughout the book.
