This book was released on 1999 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA DISTILLATION EST UN PROCEDE TRES IMPORTANT DANS L'INDUSTRIE CHIMIQUE ET PETROCHIMIQUE. SA MODELISATION ET SA COMMANDE NE SONT PAS DES TACHES FACILES A REALISER, CAR IL S'AGIT D'UN PROCEDE TRES COMPLEXE EN RAISON DE SES NON-LINEARITES ET DE SA NATURE MULTIVARIABLE ; EN OUTRE, IL EST SOUMIS A DE NOMBREUSES PERTURBATIONS ET A DES CONTRAINTES. DANS CE TRAVAIL NOUS ETUDIONS L'APPLICATION DES RESEAUX DE NEURONES ET DES SYSTEMES D'INFERENCE FLOUE (SIF) A LA COMMANDE DE PROCEDES DE DISTILLATION. NOUS TRAITONS PRINCIPALEMENT DEUX PROBLEMES, A SAVOIR, LA COMMANDE MULTIVARIABLE DES COMPOSITIONS DES PRODUITS EN COLONNES OPERANT EN CONTINU ET LA COMMANDE OPTIMALE EN COLONNES OPERANT EN DISCONTINU. POUR LE PROBLEME DE COMMANDE MULTIVARIABLE DES COLONNES CONTINUES, NOUS UTILISONS DES RESEAUX DE NEURONES POUR LA MODELISATION ET DES SIF POUR LA COMMANDE. TOUT D'ABORD, NOUS REALISONS UNE COMPARAISON ENTRE PLUSIEURS TYPES DE RESEAUX RECURRENTS EN FONCTION DE LEURS STRUCTURES ET D'UN POINT DE VUE D'IDENTIFICATION DE SYSTEMES. ENSUITE NOUS UTILISONS LE PLUS APPROPRIE POUR LA MODELISATION INVERSE DU PROCEDE DE DISTILLATION. CE MODELE INVERSE EST UTILISE COMME PREDICTEUR DANS UN SCHEMA DE COMMANDE PREDICTEUR-CORRECTEUR. LE CORRECTEUR EST IMPLEMENTE PAR DES SIF, DONT LES PARAMETRES SONT ADAPTES A L'AIDE D'UN ALGORITHME DE DESCENTE DE GRADIENT. L'UTILISATION DE CE SCHEMA PRODUIT UNE AMELIORATION DES REPONSES DU SYSTEME AUX CHANGEMENTS DE CONSIGNE ET AUX PERTURBATIONS. POUR LE PROBLEME DE COMMANDE OPTIMALE DES COLONNES DISCONTINUES, NOUS UTILISONS LES SIF ET NOUS ADAPTONS LEURS PARAMETRES AU MOYEN D'UN ALGORITHME D'APPRENTISSAGE PAR RENFORCEMENT, LE Q-LEARNING FLOU. A NOTRE CONNAISSANCE, L'APPLICATION DE CETTE METHODE POUR RESOUDRE DES PROBLEMES DE COMMANDE OPTIMALE EN COLONNES DE DISTILLATION DISCONTINUE N'A PAS ETE ABORDEE JUSQU'A PRESENT. NOUS TRAITONS DIFFERENTS PROBLEMES DE COMMANDE OPTIMALE SUR PLUSIEURS PROCEDES DE DISTILLATION SIMULES AINSI QUE SUR UN PROCEDE REEL. NOUS AVONS OBTENU DE BONS RESULTATS AVEC L'AVANTAGE SUPPLEMENTAIRE D'UNE GRANDE SIMPLICITE DE MISE EN UVRE, L'ALGORITHME S'ADAPTANT TRES BIEN A CE TYPE DE PROBLEMES.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis· seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac· tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 20 (thesis year 1975) a total of 10,374 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 239 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 20 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides the most comprehensive and rigorous analysis of Iraqi income and expenditure in several decades. The report makes extensive use of the Iraq Household Socio-Economic Survey, the first nationwide income and expenditure survey since 1988. IHSES data is complemented income and expenditure data from a wide range of other measures of living standards, allowing us to analyze living standards in a holistic way. The analysis presented here was performed with two main goals first, to inform the Government s Poverty Reduction Strategy; and second, to serve as a baseline for future assessments of changes in living standards and the identification of critical issues for deeper examination. Iraqi living standards have two unusual characteristics. First, they have fallen over the past generation. Second, they feature surprisingly little inequality. These characteristics are both rooted in Iraq s recent history of authoritarian government, war, military occupation, insurgency, and civil strife leading to infrastructure destruction and population displacement. There have been few opportunities for individuals to prosper from professional or entrepreneurial activities. Decades of neglected investment have resulted in deterioration of social services and economic infrastructure. Consequently, individuals have lacked capabilities to prosper and an investment climate conducive to prosperity. School enrollment and life expectancy have declined. Extremely low returns to education reflect the combination of poor educational quality and lack of employment opportunities. In terms of economic infrastructure, access to reliable electricity and water, and even access to paved roads are low, are further reflections of decades of neglect. While the upper end of the distribution has been pulled down by a lack of opportunities, the lower end has been supported by direct government provision of food. The Public Distribution System (PDS) provides 85 percent of food needs. While PDS has been useful as a safety net for the poor and the vulnerable, the system is expensive, inefficient, and fiscally risky. Indeed, PDS food rations account for a far greater share of public spending than does education or health. Going forward, Iraq faces two main challenges. First, although Iraq does not have to develop from scratch, it faces a formidable challenge in re-development. Second, a shift by the Government is required from direct provision of basic subsistence toward investment in human capacities. The Government can provide an enabling environment through investments in economic infrastructure and services to business and citizens, thus allowing the population to make productive use of education and their own labor. Both challenges are now being taken up by the Poverty Reduction Strategy, which articulates a detailed set of required actions and outlines priorities for government spending.

Book excerpt: From environmental management to land planning and geo-marketing, the number of application domains that may greatly benefit from using data enriched with spatio-temporal features is expanding very rapidly. This book shows that a conceptual design approach for spatio-temporal databases is both feasible and easy to apprehend. While providing a firm basis through extensive discussion of traditional data modeling concepts, the major focus of the book is on modeling spatial and temporal information.
