Book Synopsis Gödel Versus Wittgenstein by : Mike Hockney
Download or read book Gödel Versus Wittgenstein written by Mike Hockney and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps nothing has been more misinterpreted than Gödel's incompleteness theorems. Stephen Hawking, adopting the popular misconception, said, "Thus mathematics is either inconsistent, or incomplete. The smart money is on incomplete." If mathematics is tautology, as Wittgenstein said, mathematics cannot be inconsistent and/or incomplete, and so Gödel's work cannot be about mathematics. If mathematics is not tautological, mathematics is mired in inconsistency and/or incompleteness, just as Stephen Hawking said, hence is unreliable. If mathematics is non-ontological, it cannot say anything about reality. If mathematics is ontological, it's the only thing that can say anything true about reality. There can't be a world where math is a bit true and a bit false. Either the world is wholly mathematical – in which case math and not science is how we must study the world – or the world isn't mathematical at all, in which case it's absurd for science to use math.
Book Synopsis The Limits of Science by : Wenceslao J. Gonzalez
Download or read book The Limits of Science written by Wenceslao J. Gonzalez and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of the limits of science is twofold. First, there is the problem of demarcation, i.e., the boundaries or “barriers” between what is science and what is not science. Second, there is the problem of the ceiling of scientific activity, which leads to the “confines” of this human enterprise. These two faces of the problem of the limits — the “barriers” and the “confines” of science — require a new analysis, which is the task of this book. The authors take into account the Kantian roots but they are focused on the current stage of the philosophical and methodological analyses of science. This vision looks to supersede the Kantian approach in order to reach a richer conception of science.

Collaboration for sustainability development is a crucial part of achieving a sustainable future. It involves working with stakeholders, such as governments, businesses, non-governmental organizations, and communities, to develop and implement sustainable solutions. These stakeholders can pool their resources, knowledge, and expertise by working together to create innovative solutions that benefit the environment and society. The collaboration also helps ensure that all stakeholders are on the same page regarding sustainability goals and objectives. By building relationships and trust between stakeholders, collaboration can help to create a more sustainable future. Innovative Technology Goal 5.0 focuses on using technology to improve access to education and foster a culture of innovation and creativity. It seeks to create a more equitable and inclusive learning environment by providing access to digital tools and resources for all students, regardless of background or ability. It also seeks to promote technology to support the development of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Finally, it aims to ensure that technology is used to support the development of a safe and secure learning environment while encouraging responsible and ethical use. VOCATIONAL 5.0 is a collaborative effort to promote sustainable development and innovative technology goals. It is designed to bring together experts from various fields, including business, education, government, and the non-profit sector, to identify and develop innovative solutions to global challenges. Through the use of data-driven decision-making and the application of new technologies, VOCATIONAL 5.0 seeks to create a more sustainable and equitable world. The initiative also aims to foster collaboration between stakeholders, create a platform for knowledge sharing, and promote the use of technology to drive social, economic, and environmental progress. By leveraging the collective expertise of its members, VOCATIONAL 5.0 is committed to achieving its sustainable development and innovative technology goals. This ICVEAST aims to be a respected international forum to discuss the recent improvement and challenges in Vocational Education nowadays and in the future, from the research insight, mainly applied research in the field of administration and business, health science, social humanities, and engineering. The event will gather representatives from different countries, diverse areas of knowledge, and lots of education, research, public institutions, and organizations. The conference is devised as a space to exchange ideas and discuss the challenges that education and manufacturing face in preparing human capabilities to shift into the current trend of automation and the role of advanced technologies in those challenges. We intend to have an interactive conference through these three different sessions: business talks, keynote, and parallel/presentation sessions.

Download or read book Causal Models written by Steven Sloman and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2005-07-28 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human beings are active agents who can think. To understand how thought serves action requires understanding how people conceive of the relation between cause and effect, between action and outcome. In cognitive terms, how do people construct and reason with the causal models we use to represent our world? A revolution is occurring in how statisticians, philosophers, and computer scientists answer this question. Those fields have ushered in new insights about causal models by thinking about how to represent causal structure mathematically, in a framework that uses graphs and probability theory to develop what are called causal Bayesian networks. The framework starts with the idea that the purpose of causal structure is to understand and predict the effects of intervention. How does intervening on one thing affect other things? This is not a question merely about probability (or logic), but about action. The framework offers a new understanding of mind: Thought is about the effects of intervention and cognition is thus intimately tied to actions that take place either in the actual physical world or in imagination, in counterfactual worlds. The book offers a conceptual introduction to the key mathematical ideas, presenting them in a non-technical way, focusing on the intuitions rather than the theorems. It tries to show why the ideas are important to understanding how people explain things and why thinking not only about the world as it is but the world as it could be is so central to human action. The book reviews the role of causality, causal models, and intervention in the basic human cognitive functions: decision making, reasoning, judgment, categorization, inductive inference, language, and learning. In short, the book offers a discussion about how people think, talk, learn, and explain things in causal terms, in terms of action and manipulation.
Book Synopsis The complete science of Stress Management by : Prof. Vishnu Narayan Saxena
Download or read book The complete science of Stress Management written by Prof. Vishnu Narayan Saxena and published by AIM PUBLICATION. This book was released on 2021-09-13 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “As servant stress anger or fear is very good, stress can be a very good management tool if you can utilize the energy of your stress or anger but as a master Stress anger or fear is very harmful and suicidal.” Without developing a proper understanding about stress on scientific ground you cannot manage your stress. Only after understand the whole mechanism of stress, fear or anger you can control your stress and can utilize the energy of your stress in desired direction. This is not only the book which gives you a hypothetical approach about stress but this book is quite practical and very helpful in developing the practical concept about stress, how to control your stress and how to utilize the energy of your stress on scientific and practical ground. Without developing a proper understanding about any emotion, you cannot get a control over it. Again, it will be sheer foolishness to follow any method or any path without knowing it on theoretical ground, because the brain of young generation is trained in such a way that without satisfying on theoretical ground no one can put their 100% effort to follow any method. Again, on theoretical or hypothetical ground things can be proved intellectually but until and unless you will not practice them you cannot get a taste of it or you cannot fell the result of any method until you will not practice it. So, in my opinion theory and practice are two legs and by proper coordination of two legs one can have to complete their journey. First satisfy your brain on theoretical ground and then feel it practical by doing practice. So, this book will take you to the journey of peace and love with scientific approach and very helpful in dropping your emotions like anger fear and stress. Only by developing a proper understanding of anger you can win your anger or stress. If you really want to drop your anger or stress then the only way to understand the anger or stress. If you run away from stress then stress will never leave you. Only by developing the proper understanding about stress anger and fear you can drop it. If you want to drop your stress then you need to know the answer of following questions first. What is Stress? Need Stress? How stress changes our behavior, our physiology, our psychology, our hormones level and neural activity of our mind.? How you can transform the electrochemical energy of stress or anger? What are the different domains of stress or anger?

Book Synopsis Reproducibility and Replicability in Science by : National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
Download or read book Reproducibility and Replicability in Science written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2019-10-20 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the pathways by which the scientific community confirms the validity of a new scientific discovery is by repeating the research that produced it. When a scientific effort fails to independently confirm the computations or results of a previous study, some fear that it may be a symptom of a lack of rigor in science, while others argue that such an observed inconsistency can be an important precursor to new discovery. Concerns about reproducibility and replicability have been expressed in both scientific and popular media. As these concerns came to light, Congress requested that the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine conduct a study to assess the extent of issues related to reproducibility and replicability and to offer recommendations for improving rigor and transparency in scientific research. Reproducibility and Replicability in Science defines reproducibility and replicability and examines the factors that may lead to non-reproducibility and non-replicability in research. Unlike the typical expectation of reproducibility between two computations, expectations about replicability are more nuanced, and in some cases a lack of replicability can aid the process of scientific discovery. This report provides recommendations to researchers, academic institutions, journals, and funders on steps they can take to improve reproducibility and replicability in science.
