Book excerpt: Know anyone who is single? Or are you single? I mean, are you completely single? No matter whether you are engaged, courting, or single looking to mingle, it is important to answer this question honestly and prayerfully. God desires us to be whole, especially before we enter into a serious relationship. One of the reasons why relationships are short-lived-or long and painful-is because we as a society don't seek to enter the relationship completely single. This book shows how Adam was completely single while in a relationship with God before he even knew he needed Eve. Once we seek after singleness wholeheartedly, our relationships will begin to blossom as God intended! This book will help you acknowledge the areas that are causing you not to be single. It will help you accept God's plan for your singleness and apply biblical principles to align your behavior with His plan. Married couples can also benefit from this book: by identifying the boundaries that might have been crossed before and after you said, "I do!" you can get to the root of contention in your marriage. Friends, let's get back to the basics by looking at the biblical principles found in the very first relationship-as we seek to become #CompletelySingle!

Book Synopsis Our Love Could Light the World by : Anne Leigh Parrish
Download or read book Our Love Could Light the World written by Anne Leigh Parrish and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-03-23 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You know the Dugans. They’re that scrappy family that lives down the street. Their yard is overgrown, they don’t pick up after their dog, their five children run free—leaving chaos in their wake—and the father hasn’t earned a cent in years. The wife holds them together on her income alone. You wouldn’t want them for neighbors—but from a distance, they’re quite entertaining. You can tell from the empty bottles lying under the bush out front that alcohol is an issue in the household—and all things considered, you can hardly blame the wife for leaving one day. Without her at the helm, the rest carry on the best they can. Their strong sense of family keeps them going. They help—and in some cases, rescue—each other as they struggle for a better life. And while they never follow the rules, or completely conquer the adversity with which they’re faced, they do manage to meet their challenges—and even earn some much-needed respect. Along the way, they might even make you proud. Set in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, the twelve linked stories of Our Love Could Light The World depict a dysfunctional family that’s messy and rude, cruel and kind, and loyal to the end.

Book Synopsis Multitasking: Executive Functioning in Dual-Task and Task Switching Situations by : Tilo Strobach
Download or read book Multitasking: Executive Functioning in Dual-Task and Task Switching Situations written by Tilo Strobach and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multitasking refers to performance of multiple tasks. The most prominent types of multitasking are situations including either temporal overlap of the execution of multiple tasks (i.e., dual tasking) or executing multiple tasks in varying sequences (i.e., task switching). In the literature, numerous attempts have aimed at theorizing about the specific characteristics of executive functions that control interference between simultaneously and/or sequentially active component of task-sets in these situations. However, these approaches have been rather vague regarding explanatory concepts (e.g., task-set inhibition, preparation, shielding, capacity limitation), widely lacking theories on detailed mechanisms and/ or empirical evidence for specific subcomponents. The present research topic aims at providing a selection of contributions on the details of executive functioning in dual-task and task switching situations. The contributions specify these executive functions by focusing on (1) fractionating assumed mechanisms into constituent subcomponents, (2) their variations by age or in clinical subpopulations, and/ or (3) their plasticity as a response to practice and training.
