The novelty of the book lies in its approach to the benchmarking method. It follows the MASI methodology of grouping countries based on their similarity and then identifying the most competitive country in that group a better basis for comparison when doing a benchmarking study. Unlike other studies which for the most part merely argue for a replication of competitiveness policies from other jurisdictions, this approach takes into consideration the countrys resource constraints and the limit to which it can implement competitiveness policies in order to improve its level of national competitiveness.
