Book excerpt: Objectifs : Comparer l'aire occupée par la gutta-percha, le ciment et les vides microscopiques dans des canaux obturés par une technique d'obturation combinée avec deux instrumentations différentes. Matériel et méthode : 40 dents sont préparées avec le One Shape® puis séparées en deux groupes. 20 dents sont obturées avec des instruments en acier (FingerSpreader® / GuttaCondensor®) et les 20 autres avec des instruments en NiTi (RevoSpreader®/ RevoCondensor®). Les dents, ensuite incluses dans de la résine, sont coupées horizontalement à 1,5- 1,8 et 3 mm de l'apex. Sur des microphotographies des coupes, la quantité des matériaux d'obturation et vides est mesurée. Les moyennes sont calculées et comparées entre elles grâce à un test-t de Student. Résultats : Les études statistiques ont permis de conclure que les instruments en acier (Finger Spreader® et Gutta Condensor®) permettent d'obtenir un taux de remplissage par la gutta-percha significativement plus important (p=0,0015) que les instruments en nickel-titane (RevoSpreader® et RevoCondensor®).
