Download or read book Comment les enfants apprennent à parler written by Jerome Seymour Bruner and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Teaching and Learning English through Bilingual Education by : Juan de Dios Martínez Agudo
Download or read book Teaching and Learning English through Bilingual Education written by Juan de Dios Martínez Agudo and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2012-01-24 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These days, numerous studies document and advocate the potential effectiveness of the CLIL approach, which is viewed as a real revolution in second language pedagogy. European bilingual education models are currently exemplified by CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning – a new generic and/or umbrella term for bilingual education, which has been rapidly spreading throughout Europe since the mid-nineties. Over the last decade there has been an explosion of interest in CLIL pedagogy in Europe and beyond. However, CLIL pedagogy also involves complex challenges concerning its implementation and the professional development of teachers. This publication provides readers with a collection of original papers covering essential aspects of CLIL pedagogy. This collection of papers serves as a good indication that valuable research is being conducted throughout Europe and that CLIL research is establishing itself as an important area of applied linguistics. This book is mainly addressed to those in-service teachers who teach in bilingual classrooms anywhere in the world, under any circumstances, and who wish to know more about CLIL pedagogy. It can also be used as a helpful handbook for EFL student teachers. The book is also for teacher trainers running both pre-service and in-service courses.
Book Synopsis The Deaf Awakening in France by : André Minguy
Download or read book The Deaf Awakening in France written by André Minguy and published by BoD - Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-06-27 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I did not become deeply committed to the cause of bilingualism by pure chance : my commitment stemmed from my own observations and thoughts on the communication situations that I had experienced throughout my personal and professional life. Before describing the birth of the bilingual education movement, this book recalls the gradual rise of the interest in sign language that then developed into the struggle for bilingualism, starting in the nineteen seventies and right up to the present day. This growing interest and the many different initiatives and actions that it prompted through the French bilingual movement in the final decades of the 20th century, finally led to the official recognition of French Sign Language in 2005.

Book Synopsis On the Defensive by : Sharon Marquart
Download or read book On the Defensive written by Sharon Marquart and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the Defensive considers how our ethical responses to the Nazi camps have unintentionally repressed and denied the experiences of their victims. Through detailed readings of survivor narratives, particularly the works of political deportees Jorge Semprun and Charlotte Delbo, Sharon Marquart examines how well-intentioned people - including victims, their family members, and readers of witness literature - respond to such testimony in ways that are understood as ethical by their communities but serve instead to ignore victims' experiences. As Marquart shows, collective disasters such as the Holocaust expose the limitations of our ethical theories. To cope with this instability we withdraw and defend ourselves through inattentive and formulaic responses that turn a blind eye to the plight of victims. Challenging contemporary theorizations of community, ethics, testimony, and trauma, On the Defensive is a far-reaching reflection on the ways in which communal understandings of our duties and responsibilities to others can facilitate the denial of an atrocity's horrors.
Book Synopsis Development of executive function during childhood by : Yusuke Moriguchi
Download or read book Development of executive function during childhood written by Yusuke Moriguchi and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2016-04-01 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Executive function refers to the goal-oriented regulation of one’s own thoughts, actions, and emotions. Its importance is attested by its contribution to the development of other cognitive skills (e.g., theory of mind), social abilities (e.g., peer interactions), and academic achievement (e.g., mathematics), and by the consequences of deficits in executive function (which are observed in wide range of developmental disorders, such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism). Over the last decade, there have been growing interest in the development of executive function, and an expanding body of research has shown that executive function develops rapidly during the preschool years, with adult-level performance being achieved during adolescence or later. This recent work, together with experimental research showing the effects of interventions targeting executive function, has yielded important insights into the neurocognitive processes underlying executive function. Given the complexity of the construct of executive function, however, and the multiplicity of underlying processes, there are often inconsistencies in the way that executive function is defined and studied. This inconsistency has hampered communication among researchers from various fields. This Research Topic is intended to bridge this gap and provide an opportunity for researchers from different perspectives to discuss recent advances in understanding childhood executive function. Researchers using various methods, including, behavioral experiments, neuroimaging, eye-tracking, computer simulation, observational methods, and questionnaires, are encouraged to contribute original empirical research. In addition to original empirical articles, theoretical reviews and opinions/perspective articles on promising future directions are welcome. We hope that researchers from different areas, such as developmental psychology, educational psychology, experimental psychology, neuropsychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, computational science, etc., will be represented in the Research Topic.
