Book excerpt: Drawing on history, economics, politics, and law, Fox and Crane's Antitrust Stories provide a glimpse behind the texts of well-known legal opinions into the larger-than-life personalities and struggles of their antagonists and protagonists. Cases have been selected to provide a historical sampling of different eras of antitrust enforcement. They range from Standard Oil at the founding of U.S. antitrust to Microsoft in the new economy. This title is an invaluable supplement to any antitrust casebook, and the inclusion of cases with international aspects, including GE/Honeywell, Empagran, and Alcoa, makes it useful for courses on comparative or international competition policy. It is also useful as an assigned text for an undergraduate course in economic history or business regulation.

Updated as of May 29, 2018 The Department of Health and Human Services issues this final rule which provides that enforcement of the federal statutory health care provider conscience protections will be handled by the Department's Office for Civil Rights, in conjunction with the Department's funding components. This Final Rule rescinds, in part, and revises, the December 19, 2008 Final Rule entitled "Ensuring That Department of Health and Human Services Funds Do Not Support Coercive or Discriminatory Policies or Practices in Violation of Federal Law" (the "2008 Final Rule"). Neither the 2008 final rule, nor this final rule, alters the statutory protections for individuals and health care entities under the federal health care provider conscience protection statutes, including the Church Amendments, Section 245 of the Public Health Service Act, and the Weldon Amendment. These federal statutory health care provider conscience protections remain in effect. This book contains: - The complete text of the Enforcement of Federal Health Care Provider Conscience Protection Laws (US Department of Health and Human Services Regulation) (HHS) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

Book excerpt: During World War I, Abie Levy, a soldier in the A. E. F., is wounded in combat. While recovering in a hospital, he meets Rosemary Murphy, an entertainer. They fall in love, return to the United States, and get married in an Episcopal church in Jersey City. Abie takes Rosemary to his home and introduces her as his sweetheart, Rosie Murpheski; they are then married by a rabbi. Mr. Murphy arrives with a priest and, amid discord and discontent, the young people are married again, this time by the priest. Disowned by both families, Rosemary and Abie are befriended only by the Cohens. On Christmas Eve, the Cohens and their rabbi persuade Solomon to see his son and his new grandchildren; the priest urges Mr. Murphy to do the same. This surprise visit begins in acrimony, but ends peacefully as Rosemary presents her newborn twins: Patrick Joseph, named for her father, and Rebecca, named for Abie's dead mother.
