Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Color Trends and Selection for Product Design: Every Color Sells a Story speaks to the needs of the manufacturing level where colorants are developed, helping manufacturers to understand where their colors will sell and for what period of time these products will be viable. It covers issues such as stability, color measurement, and new methods of incorporation, which are critical in the development of new colorants. The book helps product designers more effectively reach their target audiences by helping them understand more about how colors are chosen for particular markets and how certain colors will perform in designs, including how to evaluate color under different lighting conditions and in, or on, different materials. Knowing how colors will perform in each material and how they will be seen on a store shelf or show room floor is vital. The book gives an important insight into future trends, including new design methods for creating color prototypes and regulatory requirements. The color designer needs to better understand the world of the color formulator, and the formulator conversely needs to understand the needs of the designer, so this book is written for both. Provides an expert assessment of future trends in color, helping color manufacturers to understand how their customers and brand owners select colors Covers the critical issues of stability, color measurement, and new methods of incorporation, helping engineers evaluate color performance in different designs, materials, and lighting conditions Helps readers stay ahead of the competition with discussions of important regulations and trends in ‘green’ colors and product design

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This highly innovative book is a multidisciplinary study of green and its significance from multiple perspectives: aesthetic, architectural, environmental, political, and social. It is centered on the Kingdom of Bahrain, the smallest and greenest of the Arab states in the Persian Gulf, where green has a long and deep history appearing cooling, productive, and prosperous--and a radical contrast to the hot, hostile desert. As is the case with cities around the world, green is often celebrated as a counter to gray urban environments, yet green has not always been good for cities. To have the color green manifested in arid environments is often in direct conflict with 'green' from an environmental point of view; this paradox is at the heart of the book. Given the resources required to maintain green in arid areas, including cities, the provision of green often bears significant environmental costs. In arid environments such as Bahrain, this contradiction becomes extreme and even unsustainable. Based on long-term ethnographic fieldwork, Gareth Doherty explores the landscapes of Bahrain where green represents a plethora of implicit human values and lives in dialectical tension with other culturally and environmentally significant colors and hues. The book's six chapters focus on: Blue, Red, Date-palm Green, Grass Green, Beige, and White. Implicit in his book is the argument that concepts of color and object are mutually defining and thus a discussion about green becomes a discussion about the creation of space and place"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Harvard lecturer of design Denman Waldo Ross discusses the attributes, temperature and tone of the colors, in a manner comprehensive to amateur and professional painters alike. A superb introductory text to color theory and art methodology, The Painter's Palette consists of brief yet salient information, presented alongside illustrative charts. The quantity and quality of the light present in each color is crucial to artists seeking to imbue a work with a certain mood or ambiance, or create phenomena such as shadows or rays of light being upon certain objects. Ross classifies and scales the colors with a simple, effective system whose utility cannot be doubted. Together with his educational books on art theory and composition, Ross worked as a lecturer and later as professor of art in Harvard University. His interests ranged through the history of art, such that he was appointed as trustee of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Although he died in 1935, Ross's works remain both relevant and useful to artists in the modern day: his incisive style is suitable as a qualitative supplemental reference for amateurs, students, and the experienced.

Mr. Schramek's simple and elemental physics and chemistry analysis of atmosphere shows that the miracle gas, carbon dioxide, has no relationship with the alarming predictions of doom for our planet from these pseudo scientists and their followers. He shows that carbon dioxide gas is our only natural source of oxygen and vegetation that permits continued life here on earth.
