Book Synopsis Care of the Suicidal Person by : John R. Cutcliffe
Download or read book Care of the Suicidal Person written by John R. Cutcliffe and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title is directed primarily towards health care professionals outside of the United States. This book is based on a three year qualitative study (a study that was funded by the United Kingdom Department of Health) that investigated how psychiatric nurses provided care for suicidal people. Drawing on service user data, this book contains and explains an evidence-based (empirically induced) theory of how to care for suicidal people. Far from being an esoteric theory with no clinical applicability, the findings captured in this book are grounded in the reality of day-to-day practice. Furthermore, in addition to tracing the role of nurses in caring for suicidal people, the authors use their findings to launch into formal level issues regarding future research, education and policy; as well as focusing on the ethical issues involved in care of the suicidal person. The authors close by shifting the focus on 'suicide survivors' and with the help of contributing aithors. As the eminent suicidology scholars who have generously provided their Forewords note - this is a must-read book for anyone involved in the care of the suicidal person.

It examines the continuities and changes of early television drama, and the impact this had upon the subsequent 'golden age'. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essays examining the relationships between culture, film, and the audience around the turn of the twentieth century. The current digital revolution has sparked a renewed interest in the origins and trajectory of modern media, particularly in the years around 1900 when the technology was rapidly developing. This collection aims to broaden our understanding of early cinema as a significant innovation in media history. Joining traditional scholarship with fresh insights from a variety of disciplines, this book explains the aesthetic and institutional characteristics in early cinema within the context of the contemporary media landscape. It also addresses transcultural developments such as scientific revolutions, industrialization, urbanization, and globalization, as well as differing attitudes toward modernization. Film 1900 is an important reassessment of early cinema’s position in cultural history. “The capable Ligensa and Kreimeier invited a coterie of renowned Continental scholars and thinkers to reflect on issues of modernity and cinema by harking back to the fin de siècle. . . . Summing Up: Highly recommended. Graduate students, researchers, faculty.” —T. Lindval, Choice

Book Synopsis State v. Peyton by : Elizabeth I. Boals
Download or read book State v. Peyton written by Elizabeth I. Boals and published by Aspen Publishing. This book was released on 2016-10-28 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State v. Peyton combines the most basic scenario that a new attorney will experience—the DUI case file—with a charge of felonious hit and run. Taylor Addison suffered first- and second-degree burns when her parked vehicle was sideswiped, spilling hot coffee over her left hand. No vehicle stopped after the accident, but Addison claims she saw a car identifiable as Jordan Peyton’s driving away from the scene. Peyton has pled not guilty to all charges and claims that she did not collide with Addison’s car. With materials included for the trial of the defendant on these charges, the second edition of State v. Peyton adds social media evidence to a case that also provides student opportunities to consider the following criminal trial issues: medical expert testimony character evidence criminal conviction impeachment bias impeachment prior recorded testimony evidence from a 911 call breath test computer printout witness statements on Twitter State v. Peyton plays out in the City of Nita. The file contains the indictment, statements, exhibits, preliminary hearing transcripts, Nita statutes, and case law, and proposed jury instructions and verdict form. For trial advocacy classrooms and programs that have the time, the case also offers optional expert testimony for each party on Peyton's likely blood alcohol content at the time of the accident. Parties can be played by either men or women. Digital versions of the exhibits are available online for student use. The author has also created an extensive teaching manual to not only help the professor with testimony but to provide skill exercises in the rules of evidence, refreshing recollection, impeachment by omission, impeachment by prior inconsistent statements, impeachment with bias, and expert voir dire. If you provide the environment, NITA will provide the setting for a most interesting experiential training opportunity.
