Download or read book Business and Technology Strategies to Promote the Development and Commercialization of Alternative Energy Technologies Like Fuel Cells written by Sundar Jayaraman and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization has led to the development of emerging markets and economies. With economic expansion around the globe, there is a greater energy demand to sustain this growth. Increasing energy demand has resulted in increase in energy prices and increase in emission levels. While conventional energy technologies have advantage in terms of established infrastructure and lower cost, they are inefficient and rely heavily on fossil fuels. Conventional energy technologies alone cannot sustain and cater to the evolving energy market's needs of higher efficiency, lower emissions and resources conservation. Renewable energy solutions and alternative energy technologies like distributed generation need to be developed to meet this energy demand, conserve the definite resources and reduce emissions. But at the moment, alternative energy technologies due to lack of infrastructure, development cost and regulations are limited in their applications. Therefore in the near term, we recommend that they strategically position themselves in the market with niche and right fit opportunities. We also recommend that they need to utilize the development dollars effectively in integrating technology development with their product development activities and develop durable cost effective products. They also need to develop key partnerships and integrate value across their development and fulfillment chains. Strategic positioning, value chain integration and key execution in development with mature processes will aid alternative energy technologies to overcome the existing market barriers and move towards rapid commercialization.

Book Synopsis Managing the Future by : Steven Millett
Download or read book Managing the Future written by Steven Millett and published by Triarchy Press. This book was released on 2011-11-30 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equipping your organization for an uncertain future is a daunting task. If you're already over-stretched dealing with the pressures of today - it can seem like an impossible one. But building future planning into your everyday practices is not only vital - it's eminently doable. And who better to show us how than Stephen Millett - historian, futurist and management consultant for three decades? Managing the Future offers a straightforward and pragmatic approach to strategic planning. It takes an honest look at the limitations of forecasting, and shows (through real-life examples and a wealth of experience) how managers can best use a variety of futuring methods, including scenarios, horizon scanning and trend monitoring. Dr. Millett first outlines his Five Futuring Principles: they provide a clear theoretical framework for preparing an organization for the future. He then takes us through the practical steps involved in managing a forward-facing organization, including managing "e;futuring"e; (the external-to-internal process of scanning the environment to anticipate the trends that will affect your organization) and "e;visioning"e; (realizing the internal mission, values, aspirations and goals of an organization and its management, and then turning your organization outward to face the world).
