The powers at Washington, however, were too busy in guiding, and the men at the front too much concerned in fighting. The nation was to be saved and the soldiers were there to do it. That was all. To be a hero was all in the day's duty. Besides, why single out a solitary actof bravery, when the comrades whose shoulders touched in the march today would duplicate or surpass it in the morrow's battle.
