Book excerpt: This is part two of two for Anatomy and Physiology by OpenStax. Anatomy and Physiology is a dynamic textbook for the yearlong Human Anatomy and Physiology course taught at most two- and four-year colleges and universities to students majoring in nursing and allied health. A&P is 29 chapters of pedagogically effective learning content, organized by body system, and written at an audience-appropriate level. The lucid text, strategically constructed art, inspiring career features, and links to external learning tools address the critical teaching and learning challenges in the course. Color is used for pedagogical effect in A&P. Most art will consist of elegant black line, with the strongest line illustrating the most important structure(s) and shading used to show dimension and shape. Color (used only when needed) highlights and clarifies the primary anatomical or functional point of the illustration. Student focus is drawn to the most important learning point in each illustration, without distraction from excessive gradients, shadows, and loud highlights. The online book provides students with links to surgical videos, histology, interactive diagrams, and cadaver imagery at critical junctures. The images in this textbook are grayscale.

This book was released on 2024-02-16 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are very happy to put forth 'Laboratory Manual of Human Anatomy & Physiology II'. We have made this manual student friendly and relevant in terms of achieving curriculum outcome. Now, we believe that the manual has been fulfilling the aspirations of teachers and students too. This manual is prepared as per PCI Education Regulations, 2014 for degree course in pharmacy. The methods of all the experiments are reviewed and added from the recent research papers, so that the advancement in the methods or apparatus can be addressed. This manual is designed for 'Outcome-Based Education' and each experiment is arranged in a uniform way such as practical significance, practical outcomes (PrOs) and its mapping with course outcomes, minimum theoretical background, resources used, procedure, precautions, observations, result, conclusion, references, and related questions. Moreover, assessment scheme is also given to help the student and teacher to know what to be assessed. This manual contains all the practicals suggested and given in the syllabus. In addition, wehave divided each experiment into various parts that make the students' understanding easier. Moreover, it will also help the students to find out the resource material required and what they should use. In each experiment the questions are given as ‘Questions Identified’ that are incorporated for both teacher and students to learn more about the practicals. We have also included the references for learning more if needed by the teacher or student. The manual also focuses on the student's skill and learning, hence each experiment is having activity for the students. In addition, if the teacher feels that he should assign some more activity or other than included in the experiment, he can. We acknowledge the help and co-operation extended by various persons in bringing out this manual. We are highly indebted to the authors of various books and articles mentioned in references or further reading material which became a major source of information for writing this manual. We also thank the publishers, designers and printers who graciously worked hard to publish this manual in time.

Book Synopsis Study Guide to Human Anatomy and Physiology 2 by : Michael T. Harrell
Download or read book Study Guide to Human Anatomy and Physiology 2 written by Michael T. Harrell and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome everyone to your guide to Human Anatomy & Physiology 2! This text will cover endocrine system, blood, heart, arteries, veins, lymphatic system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, water, electrolytes, acids, reproductive system and development. I have been teaching college level human anatomy and physiology for many years, as well as other courses. My other classes taught have included: pathophysiology, biology, zoology, microbiology, and others. In this time I have seen thousands of students. I have learned through the years the best ways to learn the most information in the least amount of time. There are two ways to study, smart or hard. If you will follow my information and learn the key points of each chapter, you will make an excellent grade in your A&P class. In each chapter concentrate your efforts on learning the key terms. The key terms are the ones you are most likely to see on your exams. Learn to associate words and how to connect them. For example, anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body. Look at the key words in this sentence, anatomy and structure. Learn how to pick out these key terms and remember them, not the entire sentence or paragraph full of information. When given a paragraph, page or whatever; just memorize the key words and then learn how to associate them. Learn what they have in common and be able to speak from one word to the next. This will be the best way to learn your anatomy text. I will make the assumption that anyone reading this book is taking human anatomy and physiology. You will still need your text, but more as a reference to pictures and such. This guide will give you the important information from the chapters, which will be what you are most likely to see on an exam. Sample questions will be included, which are also the most likely for you to see on an exam. Note also that this book is not a guide for A&P lab. An anatomy lab book is little more than a book with lots of pictures in it. That is what anatomy is, memorizing parts and pieces of the body. You simply look at the picture in your book and then learn those parts on a model. You may be looking at a skull, brain, kidney, etc., it is simple memorization. This book is more to help you with the lecture.

Book Synopsis The Holistic Curriculum by : John P. Miller
Download or read book The Holistic Curriculum written by John P. Miller and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2007-03-17 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Holistic education is concerned with connections in human experience - connections between mind and body, between linear thinking and intuitive ways of knowing, between individual and community, and between the personal self and the transpersonal self. First published in 1988, The Holistic Curriculum examines the philosophical, psychological, and social foundations of holistic education, outlining its history and discussing practical applications in the classroom. This revised and expanded second edition concisely describes how holistic thinking integrates spiritual and scientific perspectives, drawing on romantic, humanistic, and other radical alternatives to the atomistic worldview of the modern age. The role of the teacher, the issue of accountability, and strategies for implementing the Holistic Curriculum are also discussed.
Book Synopsis Whole Child Education by : John P. Miller
Download or read book Whole Child Education written by John P. Miller and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public education is often viewed as dominated by an emphasis on test scores and narrowly defined parameters of performance and achievement. By contrast, John P. Miller's Whole Child Education fosters relationships between various forms of thinking, links body and mind, and recognizes the inner life of the child. Addressing issues of teaching, curriculum, the school, and teacher wellness, Miller presents three basic approaches (transmission, transaction, and transformation) that facilitate a connection with the whole student. Practical examples from teachers who have incorporated Miller's ideas into their own classrooms and description of Toronto's Whole Child School (founded in 2009) illustrate how the 'Whole Curriculum' can be implemented on both the small and large scale. Inspired by the powerful vision of Martin Luther King and his concept of the Beloved Community, Whole Child Education is a vehicle for building community through holistic education.
