Book Synopsis Indirect Action of Ionizing Radiation on Some Organic Compounds Containing the C-N Bond by :
Download or read book Indirect Action of Ionizing Radiation on Some Organic Compounds Containing the C-N Bond written by and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observations on the indirect action of ionizing radiation on compounds containing primary amine, secondary amines N-alkylamides and peptide-bond eonfigurations are correlated in terms of related mechanisms involving the C-N linkage as the locus of chemical change. The radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions of various amino acids and proteins is considered in detail from this viewpoint. Effects of oxygen and other solutes are discussed. Particular reference is given to: (a) studies of the radiation-induced oxidation of protein in oxygenated solutions (b) studies of radical-radical reaction in oxygen-free protein solutions containing a simple C/sup 14-/ labeled organic solute such as CH/sub 3/C/sup 14/OOH. Book Synopsis Ionizing Radiation Effects and Applications by : Boualem Djezzar
Download or read book Ionizing Radiation Effects and Applications written by Boualem Djezzar and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The benefits of ionizing radiations have been largely demonstrated through many achievements of human life. Understanding the fundamental elementary interactions of ionizing radiations with material has allowed the development of various applications needed by different industries. This book draws some facets of their applications, such as hardening process for semiconductor devices, biomedical imaging by radiation luminescent quantum dots, hydrogen gas detection by Raman lidar sensor for explosion risk assessment, water and wastewater purification by radiation treatment for environment, doping by the neutron transmutation doping for the semiconductor industry, and polymerization by irradiation, which is useful for industries requiring resistant and protective coating. I wish the chapters of this book can provide some helpful information on ionizing radiation applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised and extended 6 volume handbook set is the most comprehensive and voluminous reference work of its kind in the field of nuclear chemistry. The Handbook set covers all of the chemical aspects of nuclear science starting from the physical basics and including such diverse areas as the chemistry of transactinides and exotic atoms as well as radioactive waste management and radiopharmaceutical chemistry relevant to nuclear medicine. The nuclear methods of the investigation of chemical structure also receive ample space and attention. The international team of authors consists of scores of world-renowned experts - nuclear chemists, radiopharmaceutical chemists and physicists - from Europe, USA, and Asia. The Handbook set is an invaluable reference for nuclear scientists, biologists, chemists, physicists, physicians practicing nuclear medicine, graduate students and teachers - virtually all who are involved in the chemical and radiopharmaceutical aspects of nuclear science. The Handbook set also provides further reading via the rich selection of references.

Download or read book Sources, Effects and Risks of Ionizing Radiation, United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) 2016 Report written by United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) and published by United Nations. This book was released on 2017-04-25 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report assesses the levels and effects of exposure to ionizing radiation. Scientific findings underpin radiation risk evaluation and international protection standards. This report comprises a report with two underpinning scientific annexes. The first annex recapitulates and clarifies the philosophy of science as well as the scientific knowledge for attributing observed health effects in individuals and populations to radiation exposure, and distinguishes between that and inferring risk to individuals and populations from an exposure. The second annex reviews the latest thinking and approaches to quantifying the uncertainties in assessments of risk from radiation exposure, and illustrates these approaches with application to examples that are highly pertinent to radiation protection.
